Sharppaw sat down and raised his paw, looking cocky. His claws were still unsheathed, and deep inside he knew if these cats decided to break the warrior code, he was most likely doomed.

"If you aren't here to hurt me, why are your claws unsheathed, and why are you here anyway?" he asked, trying a more innocent approach. He purred in wicked delight as he witnessed the she-cat stepped in front of the first tom. "Defending your mate?" he cooed, wanting to dig his claws in. Verbally, that is.

"The warrior code says to defend your clan, even at the cost of your life," Morningblue said calmly, his voice even. "She is right to have her claws unsheathed while yours are as well." Morningblue stepped around Rosebelly to stand evenly with her and face the apprentice, lifting his paws high so that the apprentice could see that his own claws were sheathed. "We saw that you were in distress and we assisted you. We offered you additional help, and you declined. This conversation can no longer serve any purpose." Morningblue turned his back on the younger cat and began to move away, confident that if the apprentice did decide to attack, he would not only be overwhelmed by the patrol, but by Morningblue as himself, who was trained, experienced, and a gifted fighter and he had his ears perked and was alert for the sound of an attack.

Rosebelly fought down the urge to spit at the kit. "I did not say I would fight you," she explained curtly. "You looked as if you were going to attack." Rosebelly shot Morningblue a grateful glance, but became flustered as the apprentice spoke once more. "We are not mates," she hissed. The warrior turned on her heels and padded back down the rise. "I think we should leave," she murmured to her patrol. "A ShadowClan cat has discovered us, and there's no hope for prey here. What do you guys think?" Dirtpaw grunted an agreement. "I, personally, want to head home," she mumbled. Rosebelly nodded. "That's one vote."
