Owlfang resisted the urge to charge in through the nursery door, as soon as he heard that Splashpool had given birth he had eagerly wanted to meet his best friends kits. He didn't want to admit it, but part of him was frightened. Even after all these moons, he still thought of Splashpool and himself as mere apprentices themselves. But Owlfang knew that was just the immature part of himself that didn't want to grow up. He shook his pelt to make sure their weren't any harmful things from the outside to harm the kits, and ducked through the entrance. He spotted Splashpool with her tail wrapped protectively around two tiny bundles of fur. Owlfang walked over to Splashpool and dipped his head to the new queen. Before he could congratulate her, he leaned in and mewed in what he hoped was a comforting tone, "I'm sorry about your third kit, Starclan will look after them until we can meet them again."

Splashpool watched her best friend Owlfang barge into the den, letting out a chuckle. The queen starred down at her two surviving kits vefore looking up at Owlfang. "Their in a good place. My cousin will probably take care of them." replied Splashpool, trying to hide the hurt in her voice. She knew that every one of her kits had someone is Starclan to look after them and it made her feel better just thinking of her and Flarestrike's dead family members.
