Goldenstar nodded, understanding how someone could care so much for their kits. Being a good mother was important in his eyes. He had his own kit, though it was more of adopting, and his mate was wonderful when it came to her, but she still wanted kits, and he wasn't prepared for that. However, he liked watching other cats raise their kits with love and affection, it made him feel better about it all.
The leader recoiled slightly when he saw the other tom flatten his ears. He had tried to get in contact with his family, they just weren't that close by this point. He listened to the question, and half shrugged, half nodded. "Yeah, sometimes it can be like that," he admitted, trying to not let the regret mess him up. He listened to him talk about his family quietly, nodding once or twice. He was more or less open to outsiders, though hearing that he was part Riverclan did unnerve him slightly. Forcing himself to push any grudges against the other clan away, he nodded. "That sounds hard..." he murmured, unsure of what else to say, hating how awkward things had become.

Russetburr motivés the awkward silence that had settled between the two of them. He shifted on his paws a little, trying to think of something else to say. “Yeah, families can be difficult. But, I’m doing pretty good now.” He purred, flicking his tail a little as he glanced around the clearing. He figured he should probably get some work done, go hunting or something. Plus Goldenstart probably had some important matters to tend to, and the ginger tom didn’t want to hold him up from that. Getting to his paws, Russetburr dipped his head to Goldenstar, smiling a little. “Thanks for talking with me, it was really enjoyable.” He purred, then turned to pad away. “I’ve probably got some warrior duties to get to, so good luck with your own.”
