Asterkit lay in her nest alongside her brother, Sparrowkit. Her tiny body was covered with a fuzzy layer of cream and dark brown tabby stripes, body still as she slept. Her dreams weren't filled with much of anything, as she hadn't opened her eyes and seen the world yet. Her ears had opened a day earlier, so she was able to hear much that went on around her in the warm nursery. As Asterkit felt the nest of moss shift around her, the small kitten squirmed awake. The sound of a deeper, more masculine voice than her mother's or brother's reached her ears. Almost instinctively, her eyes opened, seeking out the new scent and sound. Her eyes were a bright blue, and she blinked quickly as blurry forms took the place of the constant darkness she knew before. Letting out a timid squeak, the Asterkit squirmed closer to her brother's purring body and proceeded to look around.
