Ambrae stood in the glass cylinder, russet, black-streaked hair clinging to her sweat-slicked forehead, heart slamming against her ribs rapidly. She could feel herself slowly rising in the tube and in the next instant was half-blinded by a ray of sun as it crossed her vision, causing her to squint and crease arched eyebrows over sharp chocolate irises encircling pupils dilated in fear, now contracting due to the bright light as their owner swiveled her head to take in her surroundings. She blinked, studying the rugged, mountain landscape around her a moment before she registered the sixty-second timer as it began to count down - One step before it hits zero and I'm blown to bits...

The other tributes, nearly all of them looking just as flustered as Ambrae, were each on a post of their own. Only the teenagers from one, two, and four looked excited - bloodthirsty, almost, and a shiver slid down the nervous fourteen-year-old's spine. The terrain was rough, without a single blade of grass and instead, there were thick shrubs clustered together in bundles on the hard-packed dirt, growing beneath mountain ashes and cottonwoods, some holding berries and others as bland and dry as the hot desert sand in the thirty-fourth hunger games that Ambrae had watched when she was nine... The year I lost my sister to dehydration. No - to President Snow. Like most everyone living in Panem, she hated the young, slick-haired man with everything inside of her, but just like everyone else, she could not say a word against him nor his glutenous capital. Instead, I obey him. And I'm ok with that, she convinced herself soberly, trying to focus instead on what was most immediately important. Running. Just as Maek told me to.

And as soon as that zero hit, she was off, tearing over the dry ground on long legs away from the cornucopia - faster than most residents in district eight, but she'd had the job of lugging things back and forth, so why wouldn't all that leg work pay off? Despite this, she knew stamina was not her knack and so she knew her only option was not to run toward the bloodbath - and it was a blood bath, she could hear the screams, threats, the sound of a knife as it slid through someone's throat - but to flee toward cover, and that is what she did. In less than a minute and without any trouble she was away from the others, and the ground beneath her was turning from dirt to rock. She slipped, and before she could register what was happening, she was falling.

Pain zigzagged through Ambrae's body as she tumbled, and the next thing she knew she was surrounded by freezing cold water. I'm going to drown! She panicked, then realized the water was hardly up to her knees and scrambled to her feet, toppling to the side and forcing herself upright. Her arm, her head and hand hurt badly, but not nearly as bad as it could be she was certain. At least she found water...

Cold, icy mountain water trickling from some cavern farther up the mountain, but it was water. And with that, and glad she was out of harm's way, shivering but warming up swiftly in the hot sun, she began to trek higher up the mountain. With any luck, she thought solidly, I'll be able to find a place to stay for now.

But there really was no luck.

She was in the hunger games. And therefore, she was doomed.

Two teenagers a boy and a girl , siblings and twins , were running away from the madness , the 17 year old boy wore a black jacket with form jeans , he had bandages on his arms and messy black hair with tan skin. His eyes were blue just as his sister's . "Cassie hurry the heck up! " he growled at the girl who was a bit behind him , Cassie glared at her brother with a ice cold gaze "what's it look like I'm doing!? You know I'm not a runner Corbin !" she yelled back . The girls raven black hair was put in a pony tail and what she wore was a black tank top and jean shorts , clothes that were easy to run in. Both of them were from District 7 , the forestry and lumber district (if I'm wrong correct me!) , it surprised Cassie because there were a lot of other people in their district that actually were good at something . Like fighting or knowledge . Her brother was great at weaponry , he was the best at handling any swords or knives, and was a runner , the fastest in the district . Cassie herself however ....was only good at crafting things . Which could be useful but she had a lot of doubt. Thankfully though Corbin managed to grab a bag of goods from the start. as the siblings finally made it to what they deemed a safe zone near the base of a mountain hiding beside some rocks , Corbin took the opportunity to grab the bag and open it to see what goods they had and by the looks of the grin on his face ,they were lucky "jackpot ! A dagger , a water bottle , some matches . And just the tiniest bit of food . I say we're lucky ." he said before sighing in relief as he leaned against the rock, however Cassie snorted " I'm just glad we're not dead yet . " she said making him shrug " that too. Now go make yourself useful and fetch some water " Corbin ordered as he tossed her the water bottle.

Cassie grunted as she caught the item only to glare back at him and do as told, thankfully it wasn't long before she found the stream that Ambrae was at not too long ago . She kneeled down and plunged the bottle in only to pour some of the water on to herself in attempts of cooling down which worked. She swiped some of the water on her arms as well and made sure to get the back of her neck . Her right arm had a tattoo of a wolf with its mouth open in hopes of swallowing the sun which was on her shoulder , it was Skoll the one who chases sol and who will devour her in ragnorok , the one who Mocks. Her brother had a similar tattoo on his left arm only for it to be hati who would devour Sols brother Mani the moon at the same event . Hati the one who hates. They were fitting to both siblings . Cassie instead of returning decided to take the time and rest after all her legs were aching already from that run, she looked into the stream and took in the beauty of everything before it would eventually vanish "how did we end up here?....." she whispered before huffing "I say ragnorok is already upon us.....this ....game is just the end of world in disguise ...." she muttered before looking up at the sky near the sun but not directly at it "don't you think skoll ?" she asked .
