Appletail scented the air before moving forward, pawstep by pawstep, to her prey. The rabbit was nibbling on some grass just a few paces ahead, and if she and Simplefeather made their move at the same time, they were bound to catch it. She signaled to Simplefeather to stay put and slid around to the other side of the clearing. She was upwind of the rabbit now, so she had to strike fast. Appletail rose her tail and flicked her ears at Simplefeather, letting her know she was about to pounce.
