Irispaw looked around in slight disappointment. This was not what I was expecting..., she thought, the stench of the old charred den choking her slightly. But the again, things were different after the fire. She could still remember it... She felt her paws itch in frustration. They wanted to organize, to rebuild. She stood her ground sternly. Go away, urges! She passed forwards determinedly to stop beside Tallmarsh, and looked up reassuringly. "It must have been beautiful...we can make it that again." She continued to glance from her mentor to the inside of the den as her mentor explained her instructions. I'll make you proud, Tallmarsh!, she thought confidently to herself, standing with a new confidence. She smiled, eyebrows arching in eagerness.
"Okay!" She mewed, "When do we go?" She asked, her ears perking up. Her voice caught slightly after she heard the word 'home'. She hesitated, then smiled. She liked that word. Home. |
Tallmarsh gave a small nod, glancing around the den once more.
"It was," she replied. She smiled at Irispaw. Her enthusiasm was encouraging. Even though she had gone through so much, she was still smiling and excited to serve her Clan. If nothing else, this was a welcome change to the dreariness that seemed to seep into the medicine cat's daily life.
"Well, I was hoping we could get the herb wall cleaned up a bit to make space for the new store," she explained. She padded towards the den and began to sweep ashes and burned leaves off of their shelves.
"Anything that isn't completely burned bring to me so I can see if it's salvageable."
