[ Moving this here ]
Stoatdance flicked her ear before she straightened herself up, careful not to bump her head on the top of the tunnel as she balanced her weight. She reached forward and unsheathed her claws, beginning to tear into the earth ahead of them. The feeling of it building up between her toes, caked into her claws, it made her want to stop. But she kept going, the thought of failing at the task that she had volunteered for proving to make her feel worse.
The she-cat kept digging, digging, digging, ignoring the different creatures hidden in the dirt that threatened to crawl all over her. She grimaced at the image, a frown pulling at her lips. After a while, her paws began to burn, causing her ears to flatten. But she kept pushing onward, until a sudden pain shot through her left paw. She yelped and pulled back, hobbling to a standing position and hissing as she tried to put wait on her leg. Stoatdance gingerly reached forward with her tail, realizing that she had snagged her claw on a stone hidden in the dirt.
She glanced up at a small opening in the tunnel, raising her paw to it to see that blood was caking her fur. The she-cat frowned and sighed, her ears flattening. "Dammit, I lost a claw. Be careful, we don't need two cats losing them," she grumbled, much more irritated than she usually sounded. Her nose wrinkled at the numbing pain in her paw, and she sighed dreadfully. "I'll need to get this cleaned and then checked out after we're finished." She then returned to her position, maneuvering herself to where she could scrape at the dirt with her uninjured paw.
"We should almost be finished, then we can go back. I feel a breeze coming through here." She gently dug around the stone before tugging it out, hissing quietly as she wobbled putting weight on her paw to not lose her balance. Stoatdance then peered through the hole created by the stone and nodded in affirmation. "There's a small clearing through here. Once we get to it, we can head back and report to Lionstar. Does that sound good?" she said, turning to Cougarpaw as she asked for her opinion.
