Sassafrasfire keeps their pace rather slow for their apprentice's sake, not much minding how long it would take them to cross over into what they still considered rather empty territory. No-cat's land.
"You certainly do have energy," they say, glancing sideways at the she-cat.
"And living is nice." They wouldn't touch upon specifics. If Petuniapaw wanted them to know, or to ask, she'd let them know. Or, better yet, she'd just directly tell them so.
"Stars, sky flowers? That's a peculiar idea. You really like flowers, then." They glance up, as if they'd see the stars peeking out right at that moment. Of course they had a good part of the day left. At least they were close.

"Petuniapaw," Sassafrasfire says, some time later. Around the pair, the terrain had shifted. Scents changed, and their familiar slice of heaven closer to home was long lost. The warrior had slowed their pace gradually, remembering this to be a hunting party. Hopefully their apprentice could recall that, too. While the approaching evening would be fun for them both, the feline was hopeful to get a mouse or two in before sleeping. Waving their tail to their apprentice, they sniff.
"You've learned how to fish, but do you know other prey as well? Close your eyes, take a deep breath. Tell me what's around us now." Observing the she-cat closely, they wonder if she'd be able to pick out the few distinguishable scents around them. A rabbit had been near some stones off to the left some time ago, and a few birds flittered about scavenging for seeds and insects, going back and forth as if in an organized manner. And that was just what they noticed themselves.
