Harepaw still looked around warily. He guessed Brightwhisker would try to get him off guarded again, which wasn't going to happen easily.

Brightwhisker found a pebble. It was just large enough to kick and go a fair distance and make a racket. It'd be distracting enough he would perhaps be able to get Harepaw from behind.

Taking aim with a back paw, the tom looked behind him to a clump of ferns and a tree. He kicked the pebble. It was just light enough to be kicked by a cat and heavy enough to smack against the tree before landing in the ferns with a clatter.

With that, the tom slinked off deeper into his cover behind his apprentice rather than beside or in front of.
