The rest of the birth went the same, painful spasming contractions which eventually produced a kit and then a calm, with the tortoiseshell panting and biting back tears at the pain.
Eventually the rest of the kits are born and Crowskip helps Morningthunder clean them up before gently settling them by Stormfly's belly for them to nurse.
The agitated queen was breathing heavily and paid no mind to the snot scraps at her side, even as she was pushed onto her side for them to squirm up to her.

The black kit squirmed around, her tiny brown tail flicking as she lifted her head and sniffed the air for her mother. Her tiny mewl was pitched with confusion. She searched around for her mothers milk. She struggled to find it and mewed in distress and she let out a hiss of irritation from her siblings bumping into her. The black kit finally decided to smell the air. She soon found the milk by following the warm scent coming from a large lumpy thing.
