Re: Horizon On The Hill.
Ada heard the growling and her heart leapt with fear. She had to keep running for Eponine’s sake. She had to get herself and her daughter to the refuge. Too many bad things had happened to them for it to all end here and now.
Tears began to fall down her face, dancing away as the air whisked them off of her cheeks, and her choked sobbing made breathing harder. The racking of her terrified body tripped Ada and her and Eponine went sprawling with a shocked squeal from the latter. The growling and snapping became deafening and Ada squeezed her eyes shut, grasping Eponine and running for her life.
Yet... it soon became apparent that only one life would be saved by Adelaide tonight. A slobbering, snapping noise sounded and Ada howled in pain as jaws clamped down on her back leg and ripped her harshly from her paws. Before she went down, she used the last of her strength to fling a screaming Eponine away.
“Run, ma cherie! Run!”
The order died into an unintelligible scream as the dogs crowded in on her and began ripping her apart. It was agony but Ada’s dying thought was of her daughter.
Please live...
Eponine screamer and cry, watching the dogs tear part her mother right before her eyes.
“Mama!”
Sobbing cries choked the kit and she only ran because she couldn’t watch anymore. Blinded by tears and fear and grief, Eponine simply ran with no notion of where she was going until the growling faded away and trees appeared around her. Once the kit found herself in the woods, she collapsed and screamed her grief into the dirt.
