Re: WindClan Breezerock
Twilightstar could purr she was so delighted to see so many of her clanmates giving her their thoughts and asking questions. She decided to address each one as it came to her.
"I don't think that will be a problem, none of the apprentices have ever come to me complaining about any warrior abusing their rank." Twilightstar looked over to Shockholly [ @Rainquail ] with a touch of puzzlement. "I don't think a change in the duty and name will result in a change in the cat themself. But if you do happen to notice such abuse speak to me or Coyotesnarl, the matter will be handled swiftly and fairly." It wasn't like she'd be giving any cat more power, just making them guards of sorts.
"Tunneling?" Interesting idea, teaching the guards how to tunnel might help with things like evacuation and hiding. An underground escape route might be nice...completely depends on how its guaded. She didn't think all the cats would be on board with it though. "It's a skill that might be nice to have. I'll leave that decision up to those who want to give the rank a try." She told her deputy [ @wren ] Twilightstar still expected these cats to keep up with their daily duties...perhaps she could keep them out of border patrols.
"Guardians, I believe that title would fit them best." She answered the elder [ @AlderDawn ]
"Rotations, although I expect these cats to stay near the camp I don't think we'll need them every second of the day." Twilightstar pondered Skunkblaze's [ @gs29513 ] question, having not even thought about how to move them around. Besides as cats of WindClan, they weren't meant to be cooped up forever.
"This is happening mostly because I'm a paranoid furball who likes to know her clan is safe." Twilightstar looked over to Palekit [ @NIGHTOWL ] intrigued that it was the kit who asked that question. "We're not in any danger, but if we were it doesn't hurt to be extra safe and that's what these cats would provide." As much as she liked to tell the kit that peace was fickle and the world was an ever-changing and dangerous place, the queens and a few of her warriors might actually scold her for being blunt.
Twilightstar had to stop and think once again with Eldersky's [ @implimm ] question. How does she do this without insulting the majority of her warriors? The leader didn't think she could, so she might as well as tell as it was. "I wouldn't call it the same thing, their duties will be to ensure cats aren't causing troubles in the dens and no strangers just prance right into the camp. You were there when that mishap happened in the nursery as an apprentice, and I've lost count how many outsiders have just waltz right into the camp that I've had to chase out personally. And even though it's not a particular problem, with Lionstar at least, having another leader just walk in without any cat questioning it irritates me." That tom usually came in an announced himself, she felt like that wasn't how it was supposed to go. It might nice to have a cat notify her or maybe escort them in.
"You want to break up their duties?" The she-cat mused, looking over to Weaselskip [ @Arie ]. The warrior might have half a brain after all. "A lookout could be done if they use the Breezerock. They'd have to have the keenest eyesight. I don't mean to keep the cats in camp all the time if we break up their duties and rotate them between sunup, sunhigh, and sundown. These cats will still have some time to themselves and to train their apprentices. I don't mind extending learning evacuation procedures to apprentices." In the long run having the apprentices know what to do would help, those guys tend to run around and panic, plus their mentors weren't always around to keep an eye on them.
"Do not get cocky." Twilightstar flashed a sharp glare at Creekflow [ @Shadow & Wind ] statement. "ShadowClan called themselves the strongest in the forest and look where they are now. When you sit at the top you have nowhere else to go but down. We never know what the future has in store for us." Twilightstar warned him. The leader's painted a target on her clan's back. They were currently on RiverClan's good side, and although Twilightstaar had no intention of causing any bad blood with Lionstar, look what happened to ThunderClan. Lionstar might have fun sitting at the top, Twilightstar found it annoying and tedious. She'd prefer being unseen and at the bottom, less work for her. Look at the mess she had made for herself. Don't even get her started on whatever natural disaster might strike.
"I would have them stay with our kits, queens, and elder unless we absolutely need them in a fight." Mushy [ @Beau ] had a good question, but with their current numbers she wasn't too worried about that now, might be a probably in future. She imagined that whatever it was they were fighting she'd have some idea it was coming beforehand...unless another pack of Coyotes was being thrown at them. Twilightstar would assume that she'd be able to figure out if she needed the extra cats or not. WindClan wasn't all that small right now.
"If we work out rotations and times, the nursery and the medicine den will have a different guard throughout the day." She told Gullpaw [ @Zesty Mango ]. Maybe she should have one older cat in charge of swapping them out. Or she supposed she could do it, she'd rather not though.
Her clan has given her a lot to think about. "Would anyone be actually interested in this rank?" The lilac molly voiced to her entire clan while waited to see whether they had any more concerns.
