Default Re: A Night to Remember [ RiverClan only ]

Medicine cat….. Medicine cat…? Ripplepaw watched Lionstar walk back to his den before sitting there in a state of intensified thinking for a moment. Silvery blue eyes narrowed, the young feline finally jumped up after a long moment, padding over to the den.

Waltzing right in, Ripplepaw stood straight, right in front of Lionstar, silent for a moment before she let out a large breath.
“Okay, golden guy, let’s look at some of the logistics here.”
Ripplepaw plopped herself down into a loose seated position right in front of Lionstar as she prepared to sell her amazing awesome self and show this dude she was going to be the best medicine cat she could be.
“I’ve been abandoned by three of my warrior mentors. First Riverripple, then Lilytail, and lastly, Poolheart, causing you to have to take me under your wing to finish my training. Well… let’s just think about that for a moment. Clearly I can’t get any training done because I keep having to back track because of the stupidity of some cats, mainly Poolheart but we don’t talk about her, and so don’t you think that it may be some sort of sign?”
Ripplepaw tilted her head, gaze focused on the cat in front of her.
“And I don’t mean a sign from Starclan, those cats are just a bunch of dead mouse-butts who sit on their rears and watch us for amusement. Maybe if they ever actually did something to help me I’d be nicer to them but right now they deserve all my insults thrown their direction.”

“But just think about it. Signs can come from elsewhere, such as simply…. Life. Life itself. And I think life is sending me a sign that I shouldn’t be a warrior. Failed mentors, failed training, and no friends. That might not have anything to do with it but I’m using it anyways.”
Ripplepaw gave a bit of a laugh, though it was strained. Being an extrovert and having no friends was the most ridiculous thing she’d ever heard of, and yet here she was, probably one of the most friendless extroverted extroverts.

“Now I will say this was a really split moment decision, you said medicine cat and that just got me to start thinking and thinking until I knew for sure that this would be something I would really be interested in. I’d never really ever thought about the medicine den besides that one time when I was a bit younger and I believed medicine to be some sort of “plant magic” which hey, I wouldn’t be opposed to calling it that. Makes it sound far more cool than…. “Herbs.”
Ripplepaw stuck out her tongue in a joking over-exaggeration of disgust.
“Doesn’t ring in quite the same feeling, does it?”

She fell silent for a moment, before giving a small shrug of her shoulders.
“Anyways. I don’t want to bore you with explaining the ins and outs of myself because well, I feel like you already kind of know all of us? In a way? Not as well as you’d like to maybe, but as clan leader you’ve got to at least have a small idea on who each of your clanmates are. I know I do, that’s what makes observing others so exciting! I like knowing things about others and it makes life even more interesting to know you share it with so many other types of cats with different ideals and traits and quirks and little things that make them tick and well….”
Ripplepaw stopped here, smiling a bit sheepishly, though it quickly turned into a confident smirk.
“I just have to admit that I love cats. I just love how different we all are, it’s enamoring, brilliant, spectacular.”
Big words had become her thing lately, they were fun to use and Ripplepaw had found that more often than not, when she used big words, she seemed more impressive.

But back to the subject at paw. She was more holding a conversation with the leader rather than an audition, but that was Ripplepaw’s style. Things were more personal when she talked to others, she liked to be calm and chill and relaxed in the presence of others. Because that’s what the presence of others did to her, it gave her energy, yet also serenity.
“I’ll just say one last thing, something I’ll probably ramble about but it’s important. I talked about my mentors earlier right? Well they’re not the only ones who I’ve been abandoned by. I’ve also been abandoned by my parents, well, never met my dad but that’s a different story. Also lost my brother, who I had been closest to. It’s hard for me to make friends for some reason, one that I don’t know and still haven’t figured out. But… What I’m saying is that I know what it’s like to be alone and feel abandoned. And I would never want to impose that on anyone else. I would fight tooth and claw to remain here where everyone needed me, where I wanted to be and where I would be needed. I’m not sure about you or anyone else, but I like the thought of being needed."
Ripplepaw smiled, a brighter smile, more reminiscent of her happy go lucky smiles that she always seemed to wear.
“Plus, not only would being needed in that way be absolutely amazing, I think the concept of doing plant magic would be pretty great too. I’ve got to say, I bet I could find a way to make learning plant magic as interesting and fun to learn as warrior training was. And not to be a braggart or anything buuutttt…”
Ripplepaw shook fur out a bit before smirking again, giving a large exaggerated shrug.
“I’m pretty good at making things fun. Ripplefun is the name I go by these days you know, if that says anything about it.”
Her tone held a joking note, but there was also seriousness in it, a serious desire to prove to Lionstar that this was something she wanted. Something she was not going to take lightly. Because if he gave her this option, this position, well… Ripplepaw believed she could do greater things than all the other medicine cats. A challenge, yes, of course it was. That’s how she worked best, through challenges. Through competitions. Because winning was something she was good at.
Getting to her paws, Ripplepaw dipped her head to Lionstar, gracing him with another lighthearted smile as she began backing out of the den.
“Anyways, thanks for the talk, golden guy. Don’t overwork yourself trying to make your decision. But just know… I’m rooting for me.”
Ripplepaw gave one more smirk followed with a snickering laugh, before turning around and sauntering out of the den. She thought that had gone…. Excellent.
