His return to safety was only just sinking in and Wrenkit threw himself into Buckstar’s nest to curl up against the leader’s war chest, sniffling and quietly crying.

He couldn’t answer the questions, though he wanted to explain. Frustration at his muteness had long since turned to fury as the harsh reality of being a mute outsider in need of help had made itself painfully apparent. Now, as he longed to explain himself and express his joy at being back and found himself unable, the tom felt hopeless. It was possible that Buckstar had forgotten his predicament so Wrenkit tried to remind the tortoiseshell tom by tapping his throat and shrugging dejectedly.

"Ah." His throat felt dry, for more than one reason. How could he have forgotten? And why didn't he go out looking for Wrenkit as soon as the small tom had vanished? He bundled Wrenkit close, swallowing. "Know what? Doesn't matter where you've been. What's important is that we get you checked out by Rainywhisker and get some food in you."

He wasn't sure how Wrenkit had even survived for this long without ThunderClan, but now that he had him back, he wasn't going to let this go to waste. "Can I carry you to the medicine den? And that I can fetch you some food?"

Alright… no, it wasn't alright. Not so soon. He needed time to sit back and reflect; perhaps, then he would feel better. Buckstar pulled back, and Lionpaw glanced at his own golden fur blotched in red. The adrenaline was wearing off, but his mind was too numb to comprehend the pain. Somewhat good? Or not. At his leader's words, the abyssinian murmured, "Alright," even though it wasn't. He turned towards the exit and retreated slowly, hoping that the drying wetness would soon leave his eyes.

Buckstar watched Lionpaw go, then glanced back down at Flowerkit's body. Stars dammit... She was far too young to be taken like this. And he knew nothing was 'all right' about this, but what else was he supposed to say? It wasn't Lionpaw's fault this time - it was that rogue's.

He pressed his nose into her fur before gently picking her up by the scruff and exiting his den. He'd take her out to Firefly Cove, bury her there.

" he asked only to look back outside. He didn't wanna be on frost duty anymore! He missed the last meeting...so he wasn't sure. Shivering he looked back at buckstar "And...speaking of Apprentices... If someone needs a mentor..I'd be glad to be one. Getting kinda lonely over here.. " he said with a small shrug. Should he apologize?... "And...I'm..sorry for that out burst when I returned.. Just.. Ya know.." he managed to get out. This was tricky for him to do since he didn't think he was in the wrong...but he didn't want to be a second Frostbreeze!

"Frostpaw? Yeah... for now, at least." He grimaced at his own uncertain answer. The she-cat was unpredictable and he was certain that some other problem was going to arise sooner than later, but for now he'd just have to sit and wait. Nothing he could really do about something that hadn't happened yet.

He gave Lionwhisker a sideways glance at the tom's next question, thinking. If his apprentice left like Condorpaw had, would he leave again too? He was pretty sure that was what had happened, if he was remembering right - but Lionwhisker was back, and seemed genuinely sorry, so maybe a second chance was in order?

"Yeah. Yeah, sure, of course," he answered. "I think there's one or two due for a ceremony soon - I can give you one of them. And, yeah, about the outburst..." Buckstar shrugged and offered Lionwhisker a reassuring smile. "It's fine. Maybe I was being a little too harsh. Is that everything you wanted to talk about?"
