A single one of her brows kinked up. "Dead?" she echoed, the word sour on her tongue. "You're sure about that?" Licking her jaws, she peered past the boyish-looking kit's shoulder, green eyes narrowing. There was blood, yeah, but that didn't always necessarily mean... dead.

Ignorant of the tom-kitten, she stepped forward, tail quivering in the air. She was never going to admit it aloud, but there was indeed a twinge of anxiety withih her, just nibbling away at her gut. And heart -- these poor kits!

Hesitantly but surely she reached a forepaw out toward the supposed mother's body, before unsheathing her claws and slashing the throat briefly. Her only intention here was discovering whether these babies still had a living mother or not. And judging by the fact the body only remained limp, it seemed they didn't. "Sorry, kiddoes. This is a bummer."
