"Didn't notice anything?" Granite scoffed.
"Maybe you were overwhelmed by the scent of fish; that's everyone's excuse these days." He'd been planning on sounding at least somewhat friendly around these cats, but they were too unbearably lizardbrained. Nah, he'd just antagonize them instead. Besides, it would be much more fun that way.
"I didn't say you stole anything; I said you came with the group of earthworms stealing from me!" He really hoped he hadn't contradicted himself right then.
Briskly, the ragged-furred tom stood up.
"You two talk amongst yourselves or whatnot. I'm going to find some better company to hang out with." Better yet, he could ditch the point and go find somewhere else to live. There was always that twoleg stone-place that could serve as a shelter if he was desperate enough.
With that, Granite flicked his tail into a rude gesture and scrammed. Would he regret it later? Maybe. Likely not. But who cared? Life was boring without weak enemies to spice things up.
