As Shadepaw dashed forward, the deputy assumed he'd be going in for a direct attack. However, the change in direction took him by slight surprise. He knew what was coming next, but he hadn't expected a maneuver of that sort to be attempted by a brand new apprentice. With Shadepaw landing on his back, the large tom shifted his weight to one side, which would likely send the apprentice sliding off and onto the ground. True, he wasn't planning on counterattacking, but he wasn't about to make this too easy either.

Caught by surprise shadepaw started to slide off his mentors back, he knew his mentor would do something to get him off but he didn't expect this. Forcing his claws down he tried to Keep his position but he couldn't and fell to the forest floor "oof" he said in a complaining tone "that hurt".
