Finchwhisker watched closely as Shadepaw went through all the techniques. His form wasn’t perfect, but it would be fine for catching some easier prey.“Right, now we’re ready to actually begin hunting.” The learning process had taken longer than expected, but if Shadepaw was as decent at actual hunting as he was in his practicing, they’d be fine. “To make things more efficient, we’ll be splitting off. Don’t stray too far so I can still keep an eye on you. Just scent out your prey and use the same techniques we practiced.”
As soon as he’d finished speaking, the deputy stalked off, tasting the air for the scent of prey. He quickly located a large squirrel and closed it on it, catching it and administering a killing bite.
