Mulberry
Mulberry purred happily as she watched the kits sparring. She was glad that they didn't need her attention all the time. She had forgotten how exhausting it was to look after three adventurous kits.
Tigerlily
Meanwhile, Tigerlily was crouching motionless in the cover of some bracken, her eyes focused on a squirrel at the base of an oak tree. The squirrel was totally oblivious to her, rooting around among the roots for food. Tigerlily decided that she had waited long enough. Slowly rising to her feet and stepping silently over the ground, she glided over until she was a few tail-lengths away. At that moment, the squirrel finally sensed danger, but by then, it was too late. With a well-aimed pounce, Tigerlily landed squarely on the animal. She silenced it with a neat bite to the neck and trotted proudly back toward the den.
