Alderstep felt like smacking the apprentice. He scrabbled up the tree again and pointed out the branches. "You're a squirrel. Jump from those branches to other ones without, you know, falling." He almost hoped she would, but knew it'd look really bad for him. Alderstep forced his fur to lie flat and relaxed.

Morningpaw listened and felt anger swell inside of her as he talked as if he hadn’t just tried to get her upset. She scanned the treetops and launched herself onto a nearby branch, this was fun!

Alderstep slowly followed behind. He liked this better. Just his apprentice doing what he said, not complaining, and doing alright. He paused on a nearby branch, flicking his tail in contemplation. Something had reminded him of his conversation with Rabbitchatter. He turned his green eyes back to Morningpaw and he sighed, somehow knowing that Rabbitchatter would be either disappointed or nagging him. He really wished she were more practical. Maybe it'd be easier that way. Really, he was doing the right thing by pushing her. Alderstep shook his pelt and focused on his apprentice.

She searched for another nearby branch and found one just a few inches away. She prepared to jump, she launched herself off and felt her heart sink as she fell down

Alderstep, at this point, expected success from Morningpaw. It's why his eyes saw one thing and his mind said "unlikely." But the warrior still understood that the apprentice had missed. He leaped across the branches, wondering if it was even possible to catch a 7-moon-old apprentice or if he'd even reach her to do so. "I'm getting demoted for this," he muttered to himself rather deliriously.

Morningpaw fell face first into the snow. She popped her head up, looking rather confused, she didn’t remember what happened her nose was bleeding and she didn’t remember some things

Alderstep hopped down from the tree and hurried over to Morningpaw. Would this have happened if he hadn't yelled at her? Should he have taken her on a tour instead? More hunting? His heart raced like a rabbit's, but he began to relax when the apprentice raised her head. Her nose was bleeding? The warrior flicked his ears back. Could he cover this up? What was he even thinking? "Are you hurt?" he finally asked, warily eyeing Morningpaw. Maybe she'd flay him when she realizes her nose is bloody.

”Where am I again?”Morningpaw was extremely confused, she remembered important things like her clan… mentor, territory but had forgotten the other details
