Sparkpaw stiffened, ears perked when a cry tore out in close proximity. What the? Icy blue eyes shot back, narrowed at the figure flying toward her as a loud hiss slipped from between her teeth. Just plain dodging wasn't possible, but maybe Spark could still avoid getting those claws stuck her chest -- red didn't really fit Sparkpaw's aesthetic!--and neither did losing to a stupid bunny apprentice.

Okay now. Twist! Stinging sensations tingled through Sparkpaw's shoulder, but success, the cuts weren't horrible or deep. Something cold overtook her when she rounded on the attacker. A wide smile strung itself up in vixen image as Spark dipped down and wetted her tongue with crimson; the taste of metal mingled with adrenaline bile (a trick inspired by Redshrike, who played with the minds of his opponents like kittypets did with balls of string.) Spark lunged for Snowypaw as Wildfire taught her, aimed to score needlepoint claws through their flank with practiced speed.

True but only you'd face it. Only shadowclan would face this half made beast willing to push himself to the point of death to harm his enemy. Only those who'd harmed windclan would face this. And shadowclan had been harming windclan since before Crowtooth had been born.

His head clash connected where his bites didnt and Wolfwhisper managed to get his own space to retaliate, shame Crowtooth wished to press his advantage until the other tom collapsed. Wolfwhispers claws bit into his shoulders as the strike shifted him back a bit the skunk stripe toms own claws digging into the dirt to stop himself from going too far.

This only really gave him a run up and room to pull different moves on his foe though. Snatching up a medium sized sharp edged rock his paw landed near Crowtooth threw it with the strength of someone who dug through hard dirt and created entire tunnels solo. If he was accurate in his throw it'd hit one of Wolfwhispers legs hopefully stopping any attempt to flee while the shadowclan had the space, or maybe off balance him, that'd be useful. The throw was immediately followed by a charge to take advantage of the distraction it'd provide. You had your second to breath second over and Crowtooth was there again one front paw swiped low to tear at the other toms legs and knock them out from under him as the other went high. Went high to land a concussing force blow on Wolfwhispers head, high to scar and bleed a vulnerable location, high so if he was lucky his claw would hook into the toms eye.

Moves were dodgeable sure but the terror of realizing a second before or after the strike what your opponent had intended to do to you was not and lasted far longer.

thank you !! <33 //
He didn't have time to relish in the success of the move. Wolfwhisper was just grateful to have Crowtooth's fangs away from his throat. He backed up, his fluffy tail lashing back and forth. It was a moment to breathe and he regained his senses. He needed a way to escape or cause Crowtooth to flee. That didn't seem so likely. Wolfwhisper's eyes widened as a rock came baring towards him.

He dodged to the left, just barely missing it. Then Crowtooth was right there and a cry escaped from Wolfwhisper as claws tore threw his skin. He jerked his head away just so the claws didn't meet his eye. Blood dripped down his face and Wolfwhisper's vision was blackening. His legs were knocked out from underneath him and the warrior fell to the floor. He was fighting to stay vivid knowing his end would be met if he loss it.

Wolfwhisper lift his claws, aiming to lash out Crowtooth's frontlegs while he was close by. Whether or not he succeed, he would roll away into a more defensive position. He bared his teeth at the bulky tom, a low growl escaping from him. He looked like a rabid animal -- like a rabbit cornered by a dog.

Well this was getting strangely boring, it was fun analyzing the bunnies fighting style, but after a while, it got really dull. She had noticed that a pair of apprentices had killed another, but beyond that, there seemed to be little death. On a stranger note, while restless, she found a body that had been dead well before the battle had started. Mistheart, Dawnstar was not familiar with the warrior personally, but she carried the scent of a bunny on her so it wasn't hard for Dawnstar to draw some sort of conclusion.

She didn't know which bunny it was, didn't really care, just knew that she could use it. Bunnystar and her cats ran around and cried every time one of their clanmates died, yowling murder and telling her clanmates were worse than rogues, but they were doing the same exact thing. Hypocrites. After debating on burying the warrior in the grove or not, considering that Dawnstar was not aware of any real contributions to ShadowClan she had made, the leader had decided to toss the body into the outskirts. The grove was no place for the weak and adequate.

Upon return, she found the battle still going, WindClan was clearly on the losing side, but they fought admirably, just not good enough. There weren't very many bodies dropping, which was disappointing and thrilling at the same time. It either meant the bunnies weren't that weak or her cats were holding back... if not then they needed more training. Dawnstar had wanted more pelts, she'd settle for the fact that the splashes of red against the green grass were pretty to look at. But anyway, Dawnstar was done with this.

"Enough!" Dawnstar screeched as she stalked onto the battlefield with a usual amount of poise. A smug grin crept up on her face while pressed her paw a bloody patch of grass. "We're done here." With a sharp jerk of her head and a sweep of her tail, she orders her clan to disengage and gather. She would admit she was impressed with several of her cats, mostly her apprentices. But she could talk to them later, first, boundaries had to be established. "You lose WindClan, gather your cats while I'm still in a merciful mood, and get out of here." Usually, she'd simply let the chaos continue, but she had more dung to deal with and need her cats alive for it.

"Tell Bunnystar I said hi and to come and play next time, regardless I'm still going to end her for hiding from me. Also, I'll remind you all again later, but if you set paw across this border or attempt to move the border again... not today, not to tomorrow, perhaps not even a moon from now, but I will come to your camp and show you what a real bloodbath looks like."

Swiftpounce nodded, walking up to dawnstar. "I almost killed that bunny.." he hissed, scratching the ground. "We won." He smirked. "I'm glad.."

(This battle ending would occur a while before dawn called chronologically I think)

His target, his enemy, one of the foxhearts that murdered his clanmates was on the ground like prey eyes fearful and increasingly obscured by blood from the bleeding wound on his face. While Wolfwhisper was down the tom struck aiming to shred and gouge the open soft side of the downed cat uncaring of how his claws deepened the already present injury left by Shrewstep essentially making certain it'd leave a nasty scar. It wasnt even clear if the blood on the black and white tom was his or someone else's but it didnt matter, he aimed to maim anyway even if his semi blocked swipes ended up softer them he wanted.

He wouldnt get another chance as Wolfwhisper rolled away managing to put a decent distance between the two as he shied back and growled. But something had changed this time, there was something different that might spell the shadowclan toms escape rather then endless attacks until he perished under the mad tunneler. Crowtooth was completely out of breath and struggling to regain it.

The asthmatics breathing would have been audible and rasping throughout the entire fight as the tom kept his mouth slightly open at all times simply to get enough air to breath with how much he was exerting himself but I'd gotten worse. The breathing once more for the second time today was obviously painful and difficult the rasping taking a wheezing overtone that was shallow even as Crowtooth essentially hyperventilated to get enough air. He was heaving for breath and not getting enough so while he could still attack larger moves and chasing after Wolfwhisper was no longer an option until he'd had a minute to recover. A minute one never had in battle. So even as the already lumbering (never as fast as his clanmates could manage) tom darted forward again throwing out another clawed concussing strike aimed at the head and another at Wolfwhispers shoulders there was an opening and the time to escape was now.

Run like a rabbit does to survive shadow cat.

Owltalon let out a growl of satisfaction as he felt his claws rip Whisperpaw's ear. "Ear for an ear," he snarled, pursuing the young tom as he fell. He knew that if he gave his opponent some time to recover, he would lose his advantage. He needed to keep pressing while he had an edge.

Leaping toward the ShadowClan apprentice, he attempted to pin him to the ground, but Whisperpaw was already on his feet again. "Give up!"Owltalon grunted, swiping tiredly at his face.

Terror flew into their eyes fast and Snowypaw halted, watching as Sparkpaw paused to take a lap at her own wounds. What was she doing? Was that some weird ShadowClan ritual??

Too caught up in what the ShadowClan apprentice was doing to be on their guard, the white furred apprentice felt intense burning pain sear through their flank. Crimson stained the moorland beneath them as they staggered from the blow, dazed by the speed and precision behind it. So that's what claws in flesh felt like... Snowypaw definitely was not a fan of it.

"That hurts!" they yowled, ears pinned back against their head as they glared daggers at Sparkpaw. Not only hurtful, but just mean as well.

Just as they we're about to attempt to lunge again, a figure flew out from behind them, knocking them back a few paces. "Get back," came a hiss as Snowypaw tumbled backwards in a heap.

- - -

The battlefield hadn't been far off from where Featherlight had been roaming. Paw pads run ragged, mile after mile put on them by wandering that had provided no answers. No direction. No clue as to what to do next. A breeze had come carrying the scent of rain, something that the tom hadn't seen much of. Dancing through his fur, ruffling his whiskers and reminding him of his home.

WindClan.

He wanted to return. He wanted it so badly it made it hard to breathe sometimes. WindClan was everything to him... but was it even a home anymore without the light he had found in it? Without Eldersky, what was left of a shadow, a husk of a heart once full?

Curiosity, and perhaps a hope of coming across the beautiful molly once more, had been enough to guide his paws back in the direction. Across the border to the outskirts and along the ridge line. Back to camp. Or... at least that had been his destination before the yowls reached him. ShadowClan and WindClan scent were carried by the same breeze, and the rest had been a blur in Featherlight's sprint to get here.

Now as he faced the ShadowClan apprentice, he lifted an unsheathed claw as a warning. After he had tossed Snowypaw back behind him, Dawnstar had appeared, calling back her band of vermin. "This battle is over. Leave." he snarled towards Sparkpaw, eyes wild with the fire of battle despite having just joined.

How dare he especially when Crowtooths instincts told him this was a killer of his clanmates where his rational thoughts didnt connect the dots. This attitude kicked up the rage that numbed all pain once more where it was starting to fade with two won fights that brought open wounds on his pelt each time. So where he was flagging again the anger that numbed and the satisfaction that sharpened at Grimhounds pain brought a second wind.

Perhaps before Grimhound could manage to get to Crowtooths side fast enough but now with senses into overdrive the tunneler twisted to face where the bigger tom would land before he even hit the ground. His foe was rearing..... And Crowtooth rose to meet it shoving himself into Grimhounds chest when he lept up onto to legs growling now when the shadowclan warriors claws sunk into his shoulders. The skunk stripe tom was really only able to bear the weight of the bigger cat because he was all strength and bulk in build and did what had to be the most labor/strength intensive work of tunneling every day but due to this he managed it his own clawed paws reaching up to try to lock onto Grimhounds shoulders in kind. This type of reared battle and lock was rare really rare and Crowtooth had no experience with it in real like but a few things were obvious to him, the first to let go of the lock and fall was at a disadvantage and that as the shorter cat if he could take the weight he had the advantage. If the lock worked Grimhound could only snap at his head and ears, Crowtooth had an entire chest and throat to work with. So he started snapping like some sort of feral hungry dog even if the reared lock failed and they both went down to all fours again.
[occurring prior to Dawn's call! ]

A battle of epic proportions... like thunder colliding with lighting Grimhound snarled as he collided with Crowtooth, claws digging in and locking themselves into the WindClan warrior's shoulder. His hind legs were still rooted in the ground below, keeping him upright and locked in with the tom. "I'm sorry, are my words crawling under your skin like maggots? Good." Grimhound clicked his teeth together, bringing one of his forepaws out of Crowtooth's shoulder and aiming for a hard smack to the side of the warrior's face.

The large tom was aware of the exposed part he was leaving - shoulder, chest, throat - but the hound also knew that this cat couldn't take him down without garnering some serious injuries himself. So for now, he continued to throw in rapid fire strikes to Crowtooth's face, hissing as the malice gleamed deep within amber eyes.

So for now, he continued to throw in rapid fire strikes to Crowtooth's face, hissing as the malice gleamed deep within amber eyes.

A small idle snippit of clear thought passed through Crowtooths head as he and Grimhound exchanged bites and claws swipes respectively furiously as they both strained to not be pushed over by the other. Was it irritating this prideful sadist to get no reactions of pain or verbal responses out of his foe? Sure Grimhound had proven himself able to read the (not at all hidden) micro expressions on the berserker cat but the emotions were muted behind the haze and not holding him back as much as emotions in fights generally did. Whether the shadowclan warrior taunted and mocked because he liked seeing the reactions and pain his words brought or if he was doing it strategically to throw his enemy off he'd failed here. Crowtooths expression really hadnt changed much but minor flickers so any joy gained from that would be muted and little at best and he remained dead silent the only sound being rasping wheezes as he breathed. If Grimhound was speaking for any reason but that he overly enjoyed the sound of his own voice he was bound to be frustrated by the reaction.

Crowtooths teeth snapped and tore trying to tear out the toms throat through his thick fur or bite anywhere teeth scraping as he pulled back successful or now each time. His locking paws sinking claws deeper into Grimhound to hold him in place even as the bigger tom shredded his ears to ribbons and scored new lines over his face. Blood was gushing at this point with the many wounds the tunneler sported and he'd been struggling with breath since his first battle with Shrewstep so even with his second wind and rage he knew it was time to end this one way or another. So with the first words he'd spoken all fight and a flash of non hazed perceptiveness the tom was at times known for he growled low.

"You arent nearly as tough or impressive as you think you are."
And he darted his head forward to sink fangs deep deep into Grimhounds front leg holding on to the limb near the shoulder with a death grip. With that Crowtooth heaved back letting the shadowclan warriors claws tear out of his shoulders, ensuring that even if they healed they'd be marred by mangled bare patches forever, and broke the lock. Sure he knew full well it should put him at a heavy disadvantage going down as he did but whats the saying? If I go down you're going with me? Well that proved true as Crowtooth forcibly slammed himself all the way too the ground with his bulky body weight and even in a twist of fate lost his grip on the torn ground and tumbled backwards away and out from under Grimhound. Weight, momentum, gravity, force and pressure in a single connected motion.

All with Grimhounds leg still locked in a death grip in his mouth coming down with him.

Thing was Crowtooths decent was purposefully much faster then the large toms would be with the shadowclan warrior sure to adjust his decent to land and try and pin him while not falling over himself naturally slowing that further and letting what should be space grow between the two. But there was no space, Grimhound was tied to the falling tunneler. Well Grimhounds leg was at least and while the flesh didnt tear off as one might assume occurred when the psychopath failed to fall with his combatant there was another point of weakness.

'POP'

The noise was sickening in a way this one simple audible sound that emanated from Grimhounds body not his mouth as his leg..... Well it dis-aligned at first glance. The jolting motion of the pop and the leg shifting in structure finally shook loose the increasingly dizzy windclan warrior leaving him to roll away and then frantically right himself new distance between him and his foe. The limb looked strange, twisted a tag unnaturally and hanging differently and longer then the other paw some sort of strange lump now where the joint lay. It took a second for the information to connect and Crowtooth involuntarily let out a snort of laughter. He'd dislocated Grimhounds leg which had to hurt and would disadvantage him for the rest of the fight..... Well would've disadvantaged him had the queen of the cruel not opened her wretched mouth to declare the battle over. Crowtooth honestly wanted to continue to fight and maim but glancing around out the corner of his eye he spotted state of his clanmates. It wasnt as good as they'd hoped it'd be, Grimhound (and maybe Crowtooth too given his current state) could live another day.

"Go on limpy, listen to your master and wander back to your dirt hole to lick your wounds. I've no doubt we'll meet to fight again later."
Crowtooth for his part had locked his legs and wasnt moving, not yet he'd stay until most of his clan had gone so he could cover their retreat as Wolffang would no doubt also do. The deputy could not be left in the back alone. Besides Crowtooth really needed a moment to just stand and catch his breath as the haze of fury faded and he started to actually feel his exhaustion and wounds though he showed none of this on his face. If he had time to breath as windclan gathered themselves and peeled out he should have the strength to make it back to safer land before he collapsed. At least he hoped too, showing any weakness to these cats was not an option.

It was a flash of red. That was all that Grimhound saw as he felt the twist of his foreleg. Unnatural, and the sound that came from it, though familiar, caused him to let out a real hiss of pain. Dislocation; not his first, probably not his last, but an injury that would have him in the healer's den for quite some time. The houhd wasn't sure what irritated him the most; that, or that his WindClan warrior stood over there as if he had won.

Amber eyes blazed in fury as he narrowed them onto Crowtooth. Gaze raking over every detail, every scar, every tuft of fur. He'd remember this one. Next to Batglare, this WindClan warrior had just earned himself a dance with the devil - and Grimhound was more than happy to oblige.

"Count your days, filth." Dark and cold, not laced with the usual honey in his voice. The scar across his nose seemed to glisten as drops of crimson tainted it, and he let out one last snap of his jaws before turning to limp up to where Dawnstar was.

The battle may have been over today, but the war for Grimhound was just beginning.

Rookpaw winced as a kick grazed her shoulder. It pushed her aside and worsened her wounds, but it wasn't aimed well. She took the chance to try and grab onto the tom's back leg and twist as hard as she could.
Then she headr Dawnstar. It was time to go. Part of her doubted Wolffang would let them but she backed away, heading for the leader, keeping her eyes on the enemy.
