Something about today was... off.
Lavendersong didn't know what, but it wasn't right. It had been about 2 and a half moons since she'd left ThunderClan. She had learned that Sorrelstone had died- no, was executed by Birdsnow. She'd gotten off easy, and she was the one carrying his kits! A deep hatred was now rooted in her for Birdsnow. But, back to her feeling off. The world was strange around her. When she'd leaped for a mouse- according to her eyes, directly in front of her- she'd missed so badly the mouse didn't even flinch. When she'd finally caught it and settled down to eat, there was such a bitter taste in her mouth. Lavendersong had no idea what the hell was happening.
Until a pain like a fox's claws raking her stomach practically knocked her over.
"Crap." she hissed through gritted teeth almost 10 times. She knew what was happening. She just refused to admit it. Another strike of pain, and this time she fell over. She managed to drag herself to a hollow tree- it had moss growing in it, so luckily it was comfortable- and collapsed as more pain rippled through her.
She felt the wind, wait, not the wind, it felt like a ghostly presence and a voice- so achingly familiar- whispered you can do this, in her ear. "Sorrelstone? Is that-" Lavedersong whispered weakly but was cut off as a pain sharper than anything she'd ever felt ripped through her. Her world blurred and she was barely aware of the pain as her kits were born. And then the pain was gone.
She licked the gray kit, the first one she saw. His orange speckles looked like little suns. But then her female kit- Lavendersong's heart nearly stopped as she realized this kit was identical to Sorrelstone. The she-kit mewled and crawled away from her belly, and Lavendersong gently picked her up and placed her back near her.
Her gaze flicked to her son."Your name will be... Ash." Her gaze lingered affectionately- yet painfully- to her small, adventurous already daughter. "And you will be Carrot." she whispered. All she needed in the world was right here. She never wanted to leave.
