At the moment, Caliapaw's encounters with her patients were clearly lacking something, though Wheatfur hadn't exactly been the best with that type of thing either. She hadn't even thought about the day she would have her own apprentice, and it worried her to think about it as a matter of fact. "Surviving," Was the one word answer given by the medicine cat as she yawned, her green-gold eyes scanning the clearing with as much of an expert glance as one who had had less then a moon of training in this field could. She'd always been fairly observant, but her knowledge of other cats was based more off of memory and facts; if she knew a cat was prone to depression, or being overexcited, she could pick out their mood fairly well that day. And if she remembered little things about them, then she was able to guess their mood even better. It wasn't like she really did that, though... she was focused on her own work. "It's been slow today," The feline confessed with a sigh.

Starpaw studied the clearing as well, but for her own purposes. She wasn't watching for injuries or emotions, but she was searching for her mother, her gaze wary for a moment before turning back to Caliapaw and smiling softly. "If there's anything I can do," She spoke sincerely, her gaze holding true admiration for her friend. "Hunting for your patients, finding herbs, keeping an eye on the patients while you're out and about, just let me know, okay?" Starpaw held Caliapaw's gaze for a moment longer before looking across the clearing again, her eyes disinterested in the comings and goings of the felines she had been around all her life. Anxiety rose up in her for a moment upon spotting her mother walk in, but thankfully Birchfur simply brushed by without even a glance. Typical. Starpaw thought, annoyance coursing through her system for a moment before settling down after Starpaw looked away. She closed her eyes briefly, savoring the sounds in the clearing and the breathing of her friend nearby. Upon hearing Caliapaw speak again, her eyes snapped open and she glanced over sympathetically. "Then maybe we could head out and find fresher herbs." She suggested, swishing her tail again. "Or take a walk through the forest." It was almost torture for Starpaw to see Caliapaw pacing the clearing day after day, waiting for patients to take her mind off the recent passing of Wheatfur. It inspired the usually shy apprentice to stand up and try to help Caliapaw in any way she could so that Caliapaw could mourn Wheatfur without the stresses and worries of the day getting in the way.

Pinkpaw slunked in,” Brambleleap. Can I change your moss and deal with your ticks and fleas?” She asked nervously. I hope Brambleleap lets me do it her danty white paws pattered back and forth his tail flicking around some.
Redpaw stormed over to Boulderdust,” Get up so I can change your moss.” He demanded as if he were in charge. He didn’t really find sympathy for the elders They should just be left in the territory to die. They take up our prey and waste apprentice’s time.
|
Brambleleap quickly stood up and moved out of the way. She bowed her head to Pinkpaw, saying "Go ahead. But tell your little friend to be careful with my mate." The elder shot a dirty look in Redpaw's direction, not very happy with how he was speaking to Boulderdust.

"It's been nice, I began teaching Kestrelpaw battling techniques. Other than that, not much has happened," the big tom said, taking a small bite out of his mouse. "What about you?" Fernglow loved taking to his family, it was always entertaining. The feline listened raptly, gave advice where he could, and overall enjoyed being a father and a mate to a beautiful she cat.

Redpaw twitched an eye,” I caused my first mentor to resign and go into depression I’d be careful. I may be a former kittypet. But I am stronger than most apprentices and you aswell bag ‘o fleas.”

She glanced at Redpaw,” Unfortunetly, he’s without any control. He- he thinks he’s all that. I’m sure many of you elders once thought that, atleast some of you.” She paused and replaced her moss politely and quietly not in fear of the elder, as the elder’s were kinda weak.

"We could use more chamomile... and yarrow..." Her voice trailed off as she took a mental note of everything that there was a lot of or less of. As far as she could tell, there wasn't much of a shortage of anything else - more catmint and borage couldn't have hurt, but Caliapaw was pretty sure those things would be in short order at the moment. She could only hope they wouldn't be sorely needed. Her green-gold eyes scanned the rest of the den next, examining the neatness of it. She'd been working on cleaning it up - sorting and such - and right now, everything was in perfect order. There had been no emergencies, thank StarClan, since Caliapaw doubted she would be able to deal with one at the moment.
Right now all she was good for was checking over wounds and cleaning scratches, which made her even more against the tension with WindClan. A lot of her clanmates weren't happy with it as well, but for different reasons; Caliapaw simply didn't want to struggle with figuring out how to fix the more serious wounds. She would end up losing more patients then she saved. The she cat was slightly angry with StarClan at the moment, for leaving her here alone without a mentor, and while Zerosight might be able to help her - he couldn't train her completely. The other medicine cats could help her as well, but Caliapaw really could have used Wheatfur alive right now. "I'm pretty sure the Clan wouldn't be too happy with me if I resigned or disappeared right now." The feline heaved a sigh, looking down at the ground.
She hadn't realized this was going to be that stressful. She hadn't realized that it was going to automatically make her "popular" either, otherwise she never would have agreed. All that was left now was to try and make Wheatfur proud and live up to the standards that she was pretty sure the Clan had already made for her.

"Go get your wounds checked Foxpaw. Go fetch some clean bedding Foxpaw. Go do this Foxpaw!" The ginger apprentice lashed her tail in anger as she limped into the medicine cat's den, her voice set in a mocking tone. She was not happy. The usually so bubbly, optimistic feline was down in the dumps, her ears pinned against her head in anger as she wandered into the den. So many things had happened lately in her life, and Foxpaw was not handling it well.
First of all, her uncle, her dear beloved uncle whom was like a father to her, had become deputy recently. And Foxpaw felt like he never had time for her anymore. Then she went into that gathering battle against the DS, getting many nasty scratches from that good-for-nothing tom Flame. And lastly, her mother had just died. Now, Foxpaw didn't have the best relationship with her mother, she had never been around much. But she still felt hurt when her mother died. But not sadness hurt. More like anger hurt. Anger that neither of her parents had ever been there for her when she needed them. Anger that her grandmother was so strict and wouldn't let her do anything fun. Anger that her mentor was never around much anymore, and she hadn't been appointed a new one. She had barely learned anything, most of what she knew was self-taught. And then there was her uncle, whose time for her was diminishing every second. Yeah, Foxpaw had reasons to be mad, upset, and angry. But with her optimistic nature, she would try to find the good in these things. She just couldn't though, her mind was too clouded up with the thoughts of all the bad that's been happening, to find the good in her situations.
Spotting Caliapaw, Foxpaw snorted at the thought of being treated by an apprentice. Probably one younger than herself too at that. She wished her great-uncle were still here. But he had gone... Somewhere... She had always enjoyed teasing him, but now he was gone. And she had to deal with Caliapaw. "I was forced in here by my grandmother to get my wounds checked. She thinks my shoulder wound is infected and wanted you to check it." Foxpaw spat, sitting on the ground and curling her tail over her paws. She might as well be here rather than wandering the camp aimlessly with nothing to do because her mentor was gone. I really need to get Passionblaze to talk to Snowstar about getting me a new one...

Boulder dust let out a snort, grabbing a hold of Redpaw's tail with warrior force. He held on tightly, looking directly into the apprentice eyes. "You better watch it kit! I can overpower you anytime!" growled Boulderdust. The Tom held his ground keeping his grip on Redpaw's tail.

Redpaw snorted,” You hated the elder’s when you were an apprentice too.” He felt inclined to fight back but he feared what punishment he might recieve if he did.

Boulderdust let go instantly. "I did hate them, but then I was saved by an elder. I could've been killed. I was just like you Redpaw. How about one day I take you hunting? I still have something left in me." replied Boulderdust, almost smiling.

Redpaw snorted,” Hunting is for the weak like my sister, Pinkpaw. I don’t hunt. I do real warrior stuff like patroling the borders and protecting it from Windclan. I fight not hunt.” He grumbled Besides. Even if I let the bag ‘o fleas take me out hunting by the time we reached the ravine he’d be exausted and need to go back.
