Lightningpounce simply stared blankly the coltsfoot she dropped in front of him. He made no move to follow Snowpelt's instructions and said nothing as she applied the herbs to his wounds. He flicked his tail, looking sad and angry and irritated and hopeful that somehow Ivygaze was still alive all at the same time.

"Lightningpounce, chew the coltsfoot into a pulp.", Snowpelt repeated.

He lifted his head and stared at her, and then let out a bitter laugh that made him stop and cough for a moment. "Why?" he said finally. "She's gone. I know she is. One of the only cats that understood me, and she's gone." He dropped his head. "And it's my fault. If I hadn't yelled at her, and made her come to Lynxstar, she wouldn't have run off like that and ran into the foxes." He barked another laugh and pushed the coltsfoot away. "Save it for a cat that actually needs it.

Snowpelt pushed the coltsfoot back over to him.

The yellow tabby glanced up at Snowpelt again and was shocked to see that she was holding back tears. Never in all of his life would he had expected her to be about to cry. Still dazed, he bent over and pulled the herbs into his mouth.

"T-Thank you, Lightningpounce..", Snowpelt said as one of her tears fell down her face. The medicine cat wiped her tears away with her forepaws.
