Thistlestep crossed the space between them and shoved his muzzle at Blizzardpaw's face, paw swinging loosely to cuff at his ears harshly.

"You don't become a leader by being an idiot. You want to even be considered? Grow the hell up first."

Blizzardpaw opened his mouth to argue that he had grown up because he hadn’t gotten in trouble for 2 moons and had feelings for Hazelpaw, but he shockingly thought better of it,” So tomorrow I assume I get a final assessment since I learned to hunt now and can fight and swim?“ he meowed not thinking about how he like failed to kill the squirrel.

"You don't get a final until I say so." Thistlestep didn't care if he technically qualfiied, he couldn't catch jack yet. "You haven't successfully completed this hunting patrol." It was a cold reminder, a sharp flick of his tail indicating where the squirrel had run off to.

"Until you prove you're at least somewhat proficient at land hunting, a final is not happening."

Blizzardpaw gave an angry hiss clearly throwing a silent tantrum before storming off and dropping into the crouch his mentor had just showed him before sneaking toward the squirrel that had come back to the ground and he pounced and this time thought and remembered to bite it’s neck to kill it.

Blizzardpaw's attitude only solidified Thistlestep's decision, but he'd let him pout and cry about it. It meant very little to him.

While Blizzardpaw hunted down the squirrel and killed it, Thistlestep stalked and killed a nearby bird that was pecking at the ground.

Blizzardpaw wanting to prove that he could be a warrior so he tried to hunt for a bit longer, he missed some of the prey, but he caught a little more of prey. And glanced around after calming down for Thistlestep, yes he had stopped using the suffix -butt for everyone but Berryscorch.

Willowpaw watched as Nightfeather moved to the bank but remained in the river herself. Being as young and energetic as she was the tabby hadnt tired one bit and figured they could still hold a conversation while Willowpaw swam around. Besides there was shiny stuff down there and the apprentice was determined to find out what it was. With a nod at Nightfeather apology (not that she had anything to really apologise for) the small molly used the time while the warrior was occupied cleaning to dive and swim around. Like many riverclan cats the linage of swimming and well adapted bodies and experience made for a skilled and graceful underwater dance as a number of shells and rocks were collected in short order. Willowpaw tossed the cool looking ones to shore while discarding the others with a scoff, there was no room from bad rocks in the 'maybe keep' pile, none at all.

She perked up to attention when Nightfeather saw fit to comment on Lionstar and giggled at the final sentence "Yeah he can be kinda rude, even if he means well, but thats just toms in general I swear some of them wouldn't know what respect was even if it bit them." The apprentice snorted at the imagery thinking of a few bullheaded apprentices in particular, you'd think theydve learned by now. "But its not like some of the girls are exempt from being completely rude either, have you seen some of the tantrums Frostkit and Amberkit have thrown? I swear I hear those fights in my dreams now!" Not that it was hard the shrill yelling of kits tended to carry.
Willowpaw jokingly sighed in good humor "Sometimes I worry that when I start looking for a cat to love all the options that I'll have wont know how to treat a girl at all!" Not that the spotted tabby really wanted or needed a cat to court her like she was helpless but some romance would be nice. She wondered if Nightfeather ever got crushes, they'd have to be pretty special to be interesting to her.

Snakekit gave a huff at her mother "I don't believe that mom! You're the best at everything!" Still she shifted around and dropped into a (pretty bad) crouch. Her tail was way too high and waving wildly, paws were too far appart and therefor very unbalanced, as well as a ton of other issues. All expected problems for a beginner so when Snakekit asked her mom "Well? What do you think?" there was a lot to comment on.

Foxblaze shook her head and laughed, “Drop your tail my love. And pull your legs crosier together. Calm your nerves you’re figiting. Try it again.” Foxblaze mewed demonstrating a hunting crouch. She could do that well but fishing was more her style.
