"Poppy seeds come from the seedpod of the opium poppy. When harvested, the seeds can absorb or become coated by opium extract. Opium extract is used to make opioid drugs, such as morphine, codeine, and heroin." I learned this in eighth grade science.

Riverwater [What I'm calling her for now because that's who she thinks she is] cocked her head. "Yes, flower seeds. I know... that some cat eated a whole lot of them and then couldn't stop eating them. Then he had to eat them all and more and more, and then he eated a whole bunch and died. An' the flower makes you sleep. I think I'm Riverwater. Maybe. Probably. And yes. Kit. Paw. They were me. Yes. Once. Not now. Yes." She swiveled her head around and dropped down, landing in the snow with a crunch. "Shhhhhhhhhhhhh. I hear... This." She poked at the snow with her paw, making more crunching noises. "Yes. You were followed. Yes. I'm not playing now. Yes. Yes is my new favorite word. Yes."

[Mhmm I know, but Erza being an outsider/kennel cat 98% of her life doesn't know. So, I'm writing how she is understanding the situation.]

Oh wow. Flower seeds that a cat got addicted to and died. That was sad. It was also another reason not to eat anything but prey. Who even ate flower seeds? That sounded nasty. Plus why would a flower make you sleep? They were pretty and smelled nice. They were not for eating.
Think...? How do you only think you know your name? "You think your name is River water? That is a strange name. I'm just going to call you River, that okay?" Erza meowed noting how much the molly, River water, was using the word yes. It was quiet a bit really.
When this River water cat jumped away and shushed her the calico twitched her ears. Followed by who? Why would someone follow her. Besides this cat was kind of acting like a kit. "Uh sure... Lets say I was followed. By whom exactly?" Erza asked watching the cat paw the snow and repeat the word 'yes'.

"Yes. It is okay. You were followed by..." She made more crunching noises in the snow. "That sound. Where is it? You were followed, you must know." She squinted her eyes a little bit, but then widened them in surprise as her stomach let out a beastly growl. "What was that! Oh, waiiiiit... my tummy feels... not right... need food..." Her head perked up. "Do you have food? Yes? Can we go find some? Maybe food is making the-" more paw crunching "-noise. Yes." She waited for a reaction. "...FfffffffoOOD?"

Gidget yawned, bored with watching the strange other cats and wanting to join the conversation. She padded up, her kit-ridden belly bulging.

"Hey, y'all, don't get all riled up now. There is no food."

Her ribcage was showing through her thin pelt, and she was trying to hide how much she was shivering.

Gidget was getting more and more desperate.

I might even have to ask Frozenrift to take me in... Tch.

River's jaws hung agape. "No fooD? BUT... HOW? Can't we... look? Yes?" She eyed the new cat up and down. "Waiiit... You... Have food? Yes?" She stared at Gidget's belly. She looked at Gidget, eyes wide. "Sh-share?" The cold was getting to her now. "Are you... really and always needing seeds of flower? Don't eat too much or you'll die."

Must find food, thought Lionpaw. She spotted a gray rock and pounced on it, "Ow!" she said, so loud that probably the whole forest could hear it. Hmmm... maybe a predator will come, and I can eat that! Lionpaw thought.
