The Children's Ward II [ closed, sick cats only ]

Located in the expanded part of the medicine cat den,
this is where all the sick kittens Firehawk has collected
are being placed for quarantine.

As it is only accessible through the medicine cat den,
no one may enter without approval from Fawnsqueak [ @Dipper].

With his little kitten army in tow, Firehawk trotted into the expanded part of the den to set the ill kits who could hardly move on their own down in some of the empty nests.

"Fawnsqueak!" He called out loudly. "I came back from the nursery.. it's.. pretty awful!" His words lumped in his throat. "I thought perhaps it'd only be a few kits, but.." it was like half the nursery!!

Violetkit stares around the den in awe, “Wow”, she said, her voice coming out in a small, raspy mew.

Bumblebelly had followed behind but not too closely. There were still kittens that needed caregivers, him catching green cough was the last thing anyone needed... But that didn't mean wasn't completely stricken with worry for Podkit and Almondkit.

"Do you need any help?" He called out onto the den, lingering by the entrance.

Podkit coughed a tiny bit, then coughed again. "Fawnsqueak is going to make us all better, right?" He rasped to Firehawk, faith in his eyes. @BILL.

[Fawn]

Ohh no. Fawnsqueak had naively hoped that Firehawk's lack of return had meant there weren't any ailing kits, but it seemed to be the opposite: it'd taken him the entire duration of the time to gather them all and bring them here. He was frozen in sudden uncertainty, flushing to the tips of his ears while he inspected the long line. "You, uh... checked all of them for coughing?" he managed, voice cracking. "And.. they all had the, more.. rougher breathing patterns?" He didn't know how else to phrase that without alarming the little things.

Fawnsqueak was already alarmed enough for them, considering he had only two catmint leaves last he'd checked. "I'll be right back," he said stiffly and scurried into the storage, then returned with what was clearly not enough treatment for this many kits. "Firehawk, do you think--"

Pausing, he noticed a semi-familiar figure sort.. of lingering by the den, but not too close. It was hard to hear from this far back where they'd expanded it further to create a quarantined space, but he was fairly certain that had to be Bumblebelly. Which alone revived an emotional storm that he wasn't ready to indulge, there were literal dying kits to be cared for. "Yeah, maybe... you and Firehawk could split up to get more catmint," he called back, then bent down to raise the leaf, showing him the example. If he didn't have to guard every last fibre of the plant with his life, he might've suggested they each take one for matching purposes, but that wasn't feasible.

With no time to waste, he zeroed in on the kits to attempt identifying who would need these the most, urgently. Morality had a lecture for him but that'd have to wait, because his logical side deemed the frailest and youngest kit to be in need of one of the catmint leaves. The other leaf was pushed toward--who he thought might be--Whitekit, who seemed.. concerningly ill. "Uh, chew those up and eat them.." he urged but didn't know how to accurately gage whether the kits were capable of that direction, either from their age or their sorry states.

Almondkit plodded shakily into the medicine den, chest heaving with each rasping breath she managed to take in. Hhh. Hhhh. Stifling a screeching cough, she waddled uneasily over toward Fawnsqueak, crusted yellow eyes fluttering open. "Fawnsqueak!" was all the tiny she-kit was able to cough before collapsing feverishly onto the ground, body jerking and convulsing. HhhhhHH.

Foggykit shuffled along beside Firehawk, not entirely certain that she wouldn’t end up getting him sick but trusting him to know whether or not she would. Once they got to the medicine den, she broke off a bit in excitement- she’d never seen the medicine den before! Foggy tried to scamper over to Fawnsqueak but ended up face down in the dust from her wobbles. She had to pull herself back to her paws, and the effort from walking here and trying to run combined with the dust shed just fallen into to send her into a coughing fit.

Wrinkling her nose and managing to clamp her jaws shut on the last cough, Foggykit blinked up at Fawnsqueak and watched him hand out leaves to some kits, half glad that she didn’t have to eat the leaves and half intrigued as to what they tasted like. When she saw that Firehawk and Bumblebelly were going to go find more leaves, Foggykit tumbled toward them, having to pull herself up from the dirt numerous times before she stood wobbling near them.

“I’ll come help!”

The black and white kit beamed up at them before a sneeze sent her sprawling and she had to wobble back up to her paws. She still felt gross but if she didn’t need leaves than she could help find them!

Hopkit sneezed. “Are you sure? Am I really Sick?” She asked. She started to panic. Some cats Died from sickness. what if I die? she sneezed again. “Am I going to died, Firehawk?” She asked.
