~Splashfury~

Splashfury held in a lash out. The apprentice was her clanmate so she couldn’t afford to hurt them because Riverclan must continue to be strong not fighting amongst themselves like Shadowclan. “Well, I can guarantee you that cramps are painful. Warm ups are supposed to make your body relaxed and feel good before you do the exercise. If you get tired, it usually means you are either not used to warming up as known as not being athletic or you are overdoing the warm up.” she explained to Plumpaw.

Splashfury finished and tested the water. It had a slight warmth from the sun but it was a bit cold from the plant shadows blocking some of the sunlight. She particularly chose this space for the new swimmers to learn how to swim. “Always test the water before you go in with either a stick or a paw. You don’t want to accidentally start swimming in a deep place if you aren’t that great of a swimmer or something. As you don’t want any living creatures who made that area their territory to attack you. Try diving in first and get comfortable with being with the water sensation. Since you guys are just learning, feel free to use the walls to help propel you off trying some paddles.”

Sparrowskip was wondering where Stingpaw was but he brushed it off and just thought he would come around later. His eyes lit up as he saw Duskpaw! He smiled at her before he started talking. "Alright guys, now that we're in the water and you're used to it. We're gonna learn to swim!" Sparrowskip stepped a bit back into the deeper water so he could show the apprentices. "Use your front paws to paddle! Like this!" Sparrowskip started bringing his paws up and down through the water, and he made sure the apprentices saw. "Now thats what keeps you afloat! Now to move, you're gonna use your back legs and kick!" He started kicking his back legs and then, started to move! "See? Now i'm moving!" He then came back into the shallow water. "Now you guys try. Remember, front paws are for paddling and staying afloat, and back legs are for kicking and moving! Think of it as running, but in water!" @wren @soot @Shadeleaf @Mumble

Ripplepaw was soooooo ready for this. With her previous lesson with Poolheart, the young she-cat believed she'd done alright. She may have gotten water in her mouth and up her nose, but at least she didn't drown. That had to count for something right? So this was bound to be a lot easier.

Listening to Splashfury give her instructions, the silvery feline's eyes snapping over to.... gah what had Lionstar said her name was? Plumppaw or something? That didn't sound right... Plantpaw? That sounded better.... Ripplepaw would go with that for now. But clearly Plantpaw was upset with warming up. Which made sense, but Ripplepaw also knew that some warrior's did know better than they did. And Splashfury seemed to know what she was talking about.

Ripplepaw was a little surprised at how lengthy Splashfury's instructions were though. Poolheart had simply told her to watch her, and then dive in herself. Maybe that's why she'd struggled. But it had also been her first time.... Maybe it was both reasons. "Do crabs live in the water?" Ripplepaw asked in surprise at Splashfury's mention of animals making their homes within the water. She padded to the edge and peered in, before taking a couple pawsteps back and beginning to stretch.

@:Grimm:

Lizardpaw observed with all her attention. Paddle with front legs, kick with back legs. Got it.
She slipped deeper into the water. Her front paws instinctively started moving. She managed to keep her chin above the water. Now the back legs. She kicked back multiple times. Pretty soon she was swimming.

Ivorypaw carefully began kicking as she began to swim in small circles not straying far from her group but still swimming, she was a bit teetery when she was swimming and a few times accidentally flipped to the side or her head submerged, but each time she came back up.

Blizzardsky glanced at the apprentices,” Alright.“ he waded out to a spot in the water not too deep for the apprentices, but still decent enough to be a challenge,” You’ll race from the edge of shore to me. No cheating, meaning no dragging your opponents down or throwing crabs on them. Everyone line up, on your marks...get set..go!” he called.

Fallenpaw got water to the face but kept going. She was almost there, then an apprentice got in front of her and she got second. Good enough she thought, and shrugged treading water by Blizzardsky.

The silver mau scoffs to herself, silently deeming this warrior to be rather loose in the mind. She probably wasn't entirely there, and this was just one of the few things she was half decent at. If this could be called half decent. But she doesn't vocalize her thoughts, glancing instead at the other apprentice who spoke up. Crabs?
Trying to picture a crab in her mind when she'd never in her life seen a crab was, well, it was difficult. But again Plumpaw doesn't speak up. Instead, she steps into the shallows of the riverbed. A chill runs down her spine as her pelt begins to prickle. This was unnatural. Abnormal. Not right. No, nope, uh-uh. Backing out again, she shoots a look at Splashfury. "Cats shouldn't be in water!" she meows plaintively. "We're not fish!"

Fawnsqueak didn't know how he'd wound up teaching these apprentices. That.. really hadn't been why he'd come out here, but now it was happening, and apparently he was mentoring some children on how to swim. Okay.

"So.. if you're not in the water, get in," he said, awkwardly moving to join his group and feeling the pond's squishiness underneath his paws. Never felt nice to him. Never did get used to it. He twisted his neck to gauge the expressions of his group before gradually moving forward, sucking in a breath as the water level rose to his chest. "Um.."

Yeah, he might've been.. better prepared for this if he'd known he was going to be teaching.

Fawnsqueak cleared his throat, tried to carry on. "You can start, kind of, taking your paws off the ground, kicking gently with your front and hind legs."

Stealthpaw awkwardly kicked off. She knew how to swim, she just wasn't very good at it. Swimming over to where Podpaw was, she tried to sorta gently move her hind and front paws into a moving position. Yeah, no. "Uh..." she could definitly use some more instruction. She tried moving her left paws forward, then her right paws. That... that worked! "Lookit, Podpaw! I can swim!" Stealthpaw knew she would never like swimming, that she would never master it, but she didn't care!

Frostpaw did what they had told her to do slowly moving her hind and front legs she slowly hovered a bit she took a tiny gulp of water she tried to spit it out on the grass, she kept following the instructions and just hovered for a few moments each time. { @Dipper. }

@gs29513

As Mosspaw began sinking, Splashleap dived into the river. Maybe he wasn't drowning, but help would be good. Seizing his scruff, she hauled him to the bank, and then released him. You alright? she puffed, him being no featherweight.
