Re: Swimming with the Fishies [open to all apps/warriors!]
Come on Wavepaw! Splashleap called to her sister. I'm assuming you know how to fish, right? She was PRETTY sure at least. Hopefully. Settling down, she waited for her sister's response, and for the other apprentices in her group to come over. Hopefully they could get this going quickly. @Siren Bliss @~RooRoo~ @mellifluentCurator @Sklee

Mosspaw seats himself next to Splashleap, hoping to start soon. He'd never fished before, so this would definitely be a first for him. He looks down into the clear water, watching the little minnows flit around in their schools. They were mesmerising, and the definitely caught his attention. @gs29513

Re: Swimming with the Fishies [open to all apps/warriors!]
~Splashfury of RC~ Splashfury held it in remembering what her mentor had said. It takes patience to be able to let a fish be on the fresh kill pile. The molly nodded as Plumpaw would probably need to be able to swim eventually. Since they seemed interested in being able to fish, she had some hope for the pair. Splashfury led the group to another part of the waters that would have fish since swimming in the waters would scare the fish nearby so with luck, the fish could have ran away to end up in this area. She spotted at least 5 decent sized fish which made her sigh in relief that nobody else had taken the spot she reserved for the group or she wouldn't be able to hold in the annoyance. The tortoiseshell tabby stepped at the edge of bank but concealing her shadows to not scare the fish. "First step is to find your balance near the waters. But you must hide you shadow. Try blending in with plant shadows or something if you can't hide your shadow." she instructed as she unsheathed her claws to start the demonstration, "Second off, you need to have a visual circle of the area you want to fish in. Start off small but you can play around as you get more comfortable fishing." It was like training Coastbreeze all over again. She would probably never forget the experiences her and her former apprentice had after he came back into the clan from being a loner. It was still strange to know that they are the same age as each other. "Lastly, you wait for a fish to enter your visual circle and then-" she stopped as a perch swam into her circle. Splashfury hooked the fish and dragged it out of the water. The molly delivered a swift blow onto its back causing the fish to go limp. "Quickly dart your hooks at it in a grabbing motion at either the head or tail. Preferably the head. Don't forget to bite the spine so then it can be fresh kill." Splashfury smiled as she let them try on their own. She wouldn't be angry if they didn't get it the first time. Her mentor made her practice with the fresh kill pile as they dragged the fish bones pretending to be live fish. Though it was a sunny day so the smell of it wasn't that pleasant after they were dragged a lot through the soil. She scanned around to see if she could spot any of the apprentices that were supposed to be here. "Have you guys seen where the others are? I swore I saw them asking Lionstar to join before he assigned them to our group." { @implimm @RedHead } |

Re: Swimming with the Fishies [open to all apps/warriors!]
Mosspaw, have you fished before? Splashleap mewed turning to the younger apprentice, gazing at the fish. Wavepaw, since you're awesome, just hang around and fish, alright? Turning her head, she called Skunkpaw, Amberpaw, do you know how to fish? Hopefully they would answer, and she could get going on whoever needed to learn. @~RooRoo~ @Siren Bliss @mellifluentCurator @Sklee

Mosspaw shakes his head. "No, I haven't I mean, I've watched cats do it before, but never myself." His ears flatten in slight embarrassment. "I mean, it looks easy enough!" He slashes his paws through the water, scaring some of the little fish in there. @gs29513

Re: Swimming with the Fishies [open to all apps/warriors!]
Amberpaw ran over and dropped the fish she had caught in front of her. “Whoops, I got confused. I haven’t fished before, but I have now”!

Re: Swimming with the Fishies [open to all apps/warriors!]
It's fine Mosspaw. Most of the apprentices here don't know how to fish. Splashleap mewed. Hopefully this little guy could stop being so upset about what he didn't know. He seemed to know quite a lot already! As Amberpaw sped up, she asked How did you catch that? Never mind. We'll teach you how to fish the most common way. Really, it didn't matter that she had already caught something. She probably squished it or something. Besides, she didn't want Mosspaw to feel bad. @Sklee @mellifluentCurator @Siren Bliss (Want me to stop mentioning you for Skunkpaw?)

Re: Swimming with the Fishies [open to all apps/warriors!]
"Try to hide your shadow if you can't hide your shadow," Plumpaw reiterates. "Got it. Thanks!" Her sarcasm was a little too thick by this point, and maybe her moments were numbered too if she kept it up. Splashfury was easy though, the things she said were all too easy to pick at. The silver molly steps back up to the water's edge now, her nose scrunched up at the sudden thought of losing her footing on this loose clumpy soil where the grass and tall weeds somehow grew. Visual circle, the warrior said. Visual circle my ass, Plumpaw thinks as she comes to the realization that she really couldn't concentrate in one place. Everything was moving! Was that a shadow, some grass, a fish?! She couldn't tell. Slowly lowering herself down into a crouch, the she-cat continues to stare deadpan into the river for several long moments while getting used to it. This was vastly different than forest hunting, and while she very certainly knew that she did not like it yet, she couldn't say she disliked it either. However, the warrior instructing them says something odd again. "Hooks? What are hooks?" Did RiverClanners have special tools for this fishing? She lifts her gaze to Splashfury and tries to get a good look at the cat. Was she equipped with some tool? Not that Plumpaw could see. Her kitty brows knit together in visible befuddlement.
