Sir Darkwood stood in front of the door, teeth showing in a wicked smile, bushy red tail swishing with anticipation. He raised his cane to knock on the door again when it wasn't answered immediately. The scent of his pet had been hard to follow, though not impossible for someone like him. It had cut off completely though, not too far away and he was unable to pick it up. Still, he knew that this was the place the creatures would head, or at least one of them. He rapped the door again, harder.

Aster didn't know what was going on, but they knew it was scaring Ripple. They leaped onto their bed, and jumped for a small string that was stuck on the ceiling. They gave it a pull, and a trapdoor appeared on the ceiling, pulled open by the string. "In here- quick." They whispered.

Fortune was not thrilled with the repeated knocking on his door. He gave a low growl, making his way towards the door. If it was another of his apprentice's friends, he'd give the idiotic cat even more chores than they already had. The Australian Shepherd swung open the door, scowling at the person behind it. "And who the hell are you?" He rumbled, scanning the other up and down, before resting his glare on the annoyance's eyes.

I don't even bother questioning about it, I hurl myself onto the bed and use the springs to boost myself up. I have to admit, I am pretty pleased that I managed to get halfway in even. Fear must have given me extra strength. I grip onto a beam that stretches over the floor, and heave my legs in. There is little to no light up here, other than the open trapdoor. I turn myself around to peer through. "Don't let him know I'm here!"

Sir Darkwood's smile was un-faltered by the shepherd's glare. "Sir Alfred Darkwood, at your service." He swept his wide-brimmed hat off in a theatrical bow, cane tucked under his arm.Straightening up again, he said, "now, I believe my nephew has found his way into your domain, and I require permission to search for him." He refrained from using his usual word, pet, for the rabbit, and play it safe with nephew. It was kind of true, anyway.

Aster nodded, and carefully closed the trapdoor. Inside, fairy lights were hung from pipes and beams on the ceiling, and a lantern sat beside a large galaxy-themed beanbag. There was a bookcase propped against the wall, and a chemistry set that was bubbling with unidentifiable liquids. After Aster closed the trapdoor, they shot downstairs, and skidded to a halt beside Master Fortune.

Fortune's lip twitched in annoyance, and he crossed his arms. Who did this fleabag think he was, asking permission to search his home? The dog was silent for a moment, not glancing back when he heard his apprentice rush behind him. All Fortune was thinking about was how annoying this weirdo was. "If somebody was on my property, I'd know." He turned to face Aster, glare boring into the scrawny cat. "Is anybody here that I don't know about?" He barked. "N-no sir." Fortune whipped back to face Darkwood, expecting him to leave.

Darkwood sucked his teeth. "Very well, sir," he said, and leering at the apprentice. "Thank you, for your time." His slipper his hat low over his forehead, then turned and walked away, whistling as he pocked random bushes with his cane. He didn't believe one of them. Someone had been lying, he was sure of it. He would keep this house in mind.

I gaze around the room. It has a safe aura up here. I hear Aster leaving, and prick my ears to try and pick out the conversation. My nose twitches. Then the door closes and Darkwood is gone. I've done it. I have escaped him! I sag to the ground in relief and close my eyes.
