If Master Fortune caught them, they'd be so dead. Aster carefully walked down the stairs of the small cottage they lived in with their master, a thick leather-bound book clutched in their turquoise paws. They passed a landing between the stairs, which held a door that read: Do not disturb. -Master Fortune. Aster gave it a glance, before speeding up their pace. They reached the first floor of the cottage, and grabbed a few ingredients that they would need for the concoction they were about to make. Cautiously yet quickly, the cat opened the creaky door, and stepped out onto the cold grass outside. The night sky stood above them, scattered with stars. But Aster had no time for star-gazing (though he did love the hobby). They glanced around, searching for a good spot to set up. The cottage Aster lived in was nearly in the middle of nowhere- a large grassy field in the middle of a forest. Their eyes rested on a big flat stump. Perfect. In a swift and expert motion, Aster set out their things, and laid the book open in the middle. The page they opened to read:

7th PRINCIPLE OF ALCHEMY:
GENDER

"Rebis" is the end product of the alchemical magnum opus. It is seen as a figure with masculine and feminine qualities. After putrefaction and purification, the elements combine together as the Divine Androgyne. There is masculine and feminine energy in everything. This energy can be changed by will, and one may choose to determine their own gender. My intention with this ritual is to merge my masculine and feminine energies into one energy, shifting my biology. Gender is a fluctuating concept, and very mysterious.

GENDER TRANSMUTATION POTION

Instructions:
· Grind verdigris, magnesium, and sulfur. Mix these elements together.
· Mix into water. Apply heat.
· Add (1) bismuth to the solution. (MAY BE MESSY)
· Distil in retort flask.
· Melt silver, mix all together. Bottle it.

Hypothesized effects: Chromosomal alteration, sex/genderfluidity

Aster smiled at their work, and got to brewing the potion.

After an hour, it was finished. A bubbling green liquid sat in a vile before them, and Aster couldn't take their pink eyes off it. All they had to do was drink it, and they finally wouldn't be seen as a boy... It was almost too hard to believe. They flicked their tail, and looked to the sky. The sun would be rising soon... they didn't have much time. Maybe I should drink it tomorrow night... Aster thought, eyeing the potion. They had no idea what the side effects could be... or if it would work at all. Yes, they should probably play it safe. Aster stood up, and pocketed the vile.

I have been watching for a while, lying in the tall grasses, hardly daring to move. The recent escape from my captor has left me jumpy and nervous. Maybe this time I can remain out of his clutches forever? I doubt it, at least, not on my own. This... warlock apprentice or whatever may just be the key. If they agree to help, obviously. They are packing up now, I may miss my chance if I am not quick! "Hey!" I say, trying to sound the way Leaf does, but it comes out more of a nervous squeak. At the same time, a different creature jumps out of the overgrowth. I hadn't sensed it, so I am startled to my paws.

Aster gasped, almost dropping the potion when they heard a voice in the patch of tall grass. They quickly snapped their book shut, and turned around to face what had spoken. Wait, who was this..? It certainly wasn't any of Master Fortune's pals. And it couldn't be a neighbor- there were none. Aster eyed the rabbit nervously, ear flicking. "H-hi...?" They stuttered, still surprised from the sudden jump.

Aster frowned. They looked up again. The sun was almost up... They looked back at the rabbit. "Follow me." They muttered, taking the rabbit's paw and hurrying back to the cottage.
