Vinesmoke
14 Moons
He/Him

Vinesmoke looked around watching as his group started to walk over. Once the majority of his group was there he figured it would be good to explain the jobs while Crowtooth had suggested closing off the side passages he wanted to keep them for hunting and mushroom growth hopefully giving his friend a designated area to grow them. "Alright everyone so here's how this will work so since me and dustbunny are the most experienced we will be working up front coldpaw your with me fleetpaw work with Dustbunny. Nectrapaw and Hollyhawk you two are in the back with Gracklepaw making sure the dirt remains compact and once we make our way through this collapse the side passages need scent markers and rocks I want to make a mushroom garden for Rabbitpaw and keep a few of the others open for hunting though feel free to close a few as we go once we make it to the main passageways and find a way back to camp that will be it feel free to use the bones leechscar and the others are sorting for staiblizers'he added looking at Hollyhawk,Gracklepaw and nectarpaw. Before getting into position he made a final warning to the rest of the cats there "No one besides the tunneler group should go into the tunnels once its opened straclan forbid we have to rescue your sorry butts if you get lost"

Aw man, he wanted to be up front where all the action was! Gracklepaw pouted for a moment; alas, it twasn't mean to be.

That being said... he was still getting to tunnel, and that was rad.

Giving a firm nod and a grin (his brief disappointment already forgotten), Gracklepaw sauntered over to Hollyhawk and Nectarpaw, his blue eyes bright.

"Dontcha worry — I'm gonna make sure not a single pebble falls!" The gray-and-beige apprentice boldly assured, puffing out his chest. His confidence was nearly infectious, despite his relative lack of experience with the tunnels. That'd changed for the training tunneler, of course, but right now it was all bluff and big dreams — those could carry him far. At least in his own mind.

The Collector - Lucky Duck T3
The Stowaway Child
Cottonpaw continued his work cleaning up the various bones, it was weird looking at them. Did all cats have this inside them too? That was a question for another day. His paws and mouth worked deftly and as he completed his tasks diligently.

Branchfur continued cleaning the bones, though she cast a glance around trying to see how others were doing it. Huh. Seems like Cottonpaws method is working pretty well. Staring a bit longer to figure out how exactly he is cleaning the mink bones, Branchfur resumed her own work.

@Daragca - Cottonpaw mention (feel free to reply or ignore this)

| Gnawingpaw |
5 Moons - WindClan Apprentice

Lyrebird's Lullaby - Active | Well Insulated - Active | Bilingual [T1] - Active

Continuing through the shore of sifting through dirt to find treasu- erm... bones... yeah... that... had left Gnawingpaw with a coat of mud on her paws unlike any she'd ever allowed herself to sport. Not necessarily vain when it came to her looks, she still couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at the sight. It was awfully reminiscent of the dung headed deputy, seeing as how all he was good for was trailing dust and debris all over the camp. Playfully, she clapped her forepaws together, a cloud of dust flying out. The action coaxing a kittenish trill of laughter from the apprentice, she clapped a few times again, more clouds of dust forming until they coaxed a sneeze from the calico.

"Well lookee here. Ya'd have thunk I'd be used to the dust after livin' in it for so long. Guess even a mighty deputy like meself gets taken down by a few specks o' dirt e'rry now and 'gain. No wonder I keep gettin' taken down by me own 'pprentices all the time," the large she-kit chirped away in Crowtooth's voice, momentarily looking to the side by instinct, grin plastered on her face as she searched for someone who wasn't there.

Tiny ears flattened as Gnawingpaw momentarily faltered, remembering she didn't have her shadow next to her all the time anymore. Seeds would have laughed at that... and Ber would have probably... well... stared. Something. But instead she was here alone. Like she'd always been ever since Twilightstar had taken away her position as one of the treasured litter. A tiny scowl lit up her features soon enough, however, the she-cat refusing to let herself get down over this. She would just have to find her own new treasure and regain her spot among her littermates, was all... So what if Seeds was gone? She just had to find her and prove how like, necessary to the family she was.

@Alchemist Kitsune - Gnawingpaw
As more cats gathered around and started doing as they pleased, Leechscar glanced at the apprentice who asked about keeping the bones. He peered at Gnawingpaw with some apprehension but then figured to each their own. Leechscar didn't see the appeal of having relics of the dead in the place you sleep, but since it was more or less harmless unless Gnawingpaw decided to wack a cat with said bone he didn't see any reason she couldn't take any bones she found with her.

"If you wanna keep what you find, I don't care. So long as it's only one bone. I doubt Twilightstar or Crowtooth will throw a fuss so long as whatever you take doesn't smell and won't cause problems with your den mates." He replied while swinging his tail behind his back.

The massive fury looked over at Cottonpaw, a little surprised that the apprentice was helping with the bones. Considering how difficult it was for him to cope with killing prey, Leechscar assumed the tom wouldn't like that resembled death, but apparently, his squeamishness only applied to taking a life, not death itself.

Leechscar worked on digging up some small bones and started making a pile of the ones that were going into the walls. He had a tunneling lesson some moons back when he became a fury because his mother demanded it. Vinesmoke was going to try using the bones for shoring the walls, or something like that. He wished he knew exactly how big or small the bones needed to be to help stabilize the tunnels. Uncertain about the size, Leechscar started sorting his bones into three piles, the utterly useless bones that were too big and too small, the second pile for the maybe bones that should fit in the divots in the walls, and miscellaneous bones that he had no clue what to do with.

His ears perked up and his head swung in the direction of Gnawingpaw when the apprentice started meowing in the old timer's voice. That was sort of impressive. Cats with that weird-ass skill to mimic voices seemed to be popping up more frequently these days. He didn't get it but didn't question it any more than he questions the dead coming back to life. Strange things were easily normalized in the clans, he discovered as he grew.

Having gathered quite the piles, he eventually paused, uncertain how many bones Vinesmoke needed, He couldn't help himself, and off to the side, he began reassembling the skeleton of a mink. He found the fully intact skull and slowly began putting the spine together.

Re: Rule #1 never dig straight down

Dustbunny smiled reassuringly at Vinesmoke when he caught her eye. Who knew the young apprentice she trained would be in charge of setting up their new haven? How much he's grown. She was proud of him, she should say that more often to her apprentices.

As Vinesmoke dipped into everyone's roles, Dustbunny purred hearing she'd be working with Fleetpaw. Perfect! This would give him a chance to experience real tunnel work. She wished Littlepaw was here as well, she was sure the apprentice would get a blast out of the experience.

So it sounded like they'd be working on clearing out the collapsed tunneling and would be using bones for shoring. She wasn't sure how good of an idea that was as bones were brittle and were known for decaying in the dirt. Hence why they were always buried. They also snap and break rather easily underneath the right amount of pressure. Sure, it took some time for them to decay, but it'd probably be safer to just use rocks and bury the bones. She highly doubted mink bones were that strong anyway compared to rocks.

Dustbunny flickered her tail concerned about this plan. She didn't want to step on Vinesmoke's paws as this was his first big project as the head, but the safety hazard... The tunneler glanced around for Fleetpaw while debating how to bring up her concern to Vinesmoke.

Cottonpaw glanced over to the warrior watching him, ”N.n.n.need an e.e.extra p.p.paw?” He offered a sweet smile to the older cat.

Casting a glance towards Cottonpaw, the brown tabby nodded, Branchfur giving a smile of her own. ''Yes! I'd appreciate it.''
