The small smile shifted into a frown that furrowed his brow as Whisperpaw gazed up at the hulking tom. Great, he just had to end up with one of the grumpy ones. He couldn't really complain, he supposed - just had to be grateful that Dawnstar had allowed him back in and was setting him up with a training opportunity again. Besides, the grumps were usually the tough ones, so maybe this wouldn't be too bad after all.

He rolled his shoulders and forced another smile, this one simply placid and polite. "I'm not usually one for shenanigans, so you don't have to worry about that," he replied breezily. "And I certainly don't expect you to go easy on me - I'd be disappointed if you did, to be honest. That damn dog put me out for way too long, and I don't want to fall behind any more than I already have. I'm ready when you are." Though his expression was mild, there was a challenging light dancing in the scarred tom's eyes.
