She put a small dandelion behind her ear.

"My grandma said that the dandelion is my family's sacred flower and it would keep me safe if I was wearing one during a hard time so..." She smiled at her mentor. "Oh! Here's one for YarrowCrest if he wants one!"

Sparrowfur purred, doing her best to mask her nervousness.

"Thank you, Sourpaw." She gave a gentle boop on her forehead. "I'm sure to fight well now! First thing we do when I get back is some battle training."

She had to live through this. There was so much more than just her pride on the line. She had to see through to Sourpaw's warrior ceremony. To grow old with Yarrowcrest. To start a family.
