With the kit in her between her maw she had made her way quickly to the leader's den, not paying anyone a mind. Once she was at the entrance of the den she sat Bonekit down but didn't make a move to block their path. The eyes from the kit gave her surety that the kit wouldn't run off. "Larkstar? You here? I have a young child here" she called out to the leader.

"A kit?" Larkstar asks, inviting the two of them in... Applebees and... she wasn't sure of the kits name (there's a lot of names and faces to keep track of, she's working on it). "What happened, is he ok?"

I mean all yo do is just take the old moss out and out new moss in right? It shouldn’t be that hard. green orbs turned towards the she cat once again. O-oh yeah! I’m habit! Big birds adopted! Big bird is the clans herb cat..he smells weird kinda like Toby did!
It was then that habit realized he was rambling on again and dipped his head. Sorry I tend to ramble on forever if cats let me..also what is this place? he looked around the dark den in confusion. Why is there only one bed?

Larkstar smiled as the small kit rambled. It was nice he felt comfortable enough to do that, sometimes she wondered if maybe the kits would be scared of her because of her title, but this one seemed ok. Or, at the very least, a little clueless. At first, she hadn't the faintest clue who 'big bird' was, but at the mention of smelling like herbs she figured it out - Falconfeather, her older brother and absentee medicine cat. Falconfeather was... a problem she'd get to later. before that, she'd have to find him.
"Yup! Bedding is as easy to change as that, you'll do fine once you're an apprentice and it becomes one of your chores," she told him with a teasing wink. "And, there's only one bed in here because only one cat sleeps in here - the clan leader. That's me right now."

As fast as the answer left her maw, his cheeks burned, his eyes stung. It felt like someone was standing on his chest and all of a sudden everything was blurry, and his cheeks and chin were wet. Forcefull hiccups pulse through his body as he did his best to comprehend that the universe just deemed him unable to meet the family he'd set out to find. All that hope, all that buildup, just for it to be ripped away. A quiet confirmation that he wasn't allowed to have what he'd been working for. A butterfly landing would be louder than the silence in the den as the tom silently did his best to hold in his emotions. Did his best not to completley break down and sob. Crying was hard enough.
Until it hit him. Why? Why should he hold it back? Why did he have to be strong when he deserved to be sad, deserved to cry? In that split moment Sunnybunny sat himself down, looking up at Larkstar, his ears drooped, and any sense of composure used to say "I guess it wasn't meant to be." before letting himself sob. Grief for the family he could have had. Mourn what he wasn't allowed to enjoy, and what could have been.
He didn't hear what the molly said, he didn't care. His head was beginning to hurt. His chest hurt, his eyes stung and his fur was getting wet. He'd be cold. It wasn't her chance to mourn, she had her chance, this was his. This was his moment of sorrow and a part of him felt ugly for ignoring her woes. Ugly for acting selfishly, wanting this moment to be his moment, and his moment alone.

She doesn't know what to do when the warrior breaks down, doesn't know if she should offer comfort or look away... what comfort could she give to him? Any attempt would probably only feel hollow, in one ear out the next, like a deep gash only getting a few licks as treatment. It wouldn't be enough and soon, infection would fester.
"I'm sorry..." is all she says. It would be pointless to try and say anything else, really, so why bother trying. She wanted to get out of here more than anything, the air felt tense and heavy and Lark had never been good at dealing with the sorrow of others (it was one of the reasons she had relied so heavily on humor when she was a little younger). "I'll, um, I'll give you some space..." She half mumbled, starting to make her way around the ginger tom and toward the den's entrance.

The caliby shook his head and bounded over to the leader's den, slipping inside without any asking and instead stomping over to where Larkstar was.
"Aunt Larkstar?" he asked with a narrowed gaze, "where is my dad? He's not in his herb den and there's this... odd kit in the clearing who claims to be my "brother". I don't know him so he's definitely lying. Why is he lying? I need to find dad to clear all this up." It was rather a long-winded explanation as the upset tomkit sat his rump down and glowered up at the leader.

"Wingkit, hi!" Larkstar pauses in her grooming as the small kit enters. And then his questions turn to his father... Falconfeather. Honestly, Lark wished she had an answer to that question. She was sure that most everyone in the clan had already noticed the medic's mysterious absence, thankfully, though, so far the only two who really brought it up were Tansypaw and now Wingkit.
"I don't know where Falconfeather is right now, I'm sorry. He's probably out collecting herbs - Starclan knows we're in short supply of them." She started. It wasn't... exactly true, but it was good enough for now. Honestly, maybe all Falcon was doing was gathering herbs and he'd gotten a little lost and distracted. "What does this other kitten look like? The one who you say isn't your brother?"

Cinnamonswirl - They/Them - Ace + Pan - 29 Moons

CinnamonSwirl stood outside their little sister's den. Starclan this was nerve racking! The cinnamon-swirled scat took a deep breath. They padded in, trying to look confident, and looked around. "Larkstar? May I speak to you? It's about Lionhearts..." They said paused, trying to find the next words "I was seeking to become one." The cream and cinnamon cat finished. Eyes trained nervously on their sister as they waited for Larkstar's reply.

As Cinnamonswirl entered her den, Lark tried to sit up straighter, tried to look like she wasn't about to take a nap, and tried to be alert for her sibling. Lark didn't think the two of them were the closest in the world... probably had something to do with their age gap - it might not seem like much, but 11 moons really can be quite a large gap.
"I think you could be a good fit," she says with a smile, "I want to talk to Nightspark about potential candidates soon - I'll make sure to mention your name."

I understand you are aware of the constant idea, but I doubt it's an idea anymore as I overheard some Spiderleap, Gingersplash and Craneblood planning to get some deathberries and confront you about some silly old rumors among the apprentices, and either way causing your end. I couldn't just sit there and let this happen, so I thought I'd let you know." His head down in respect, he sat waiting for a response. @ FrostyGalaxy
(Weaseltooth is snitching on something he heard at Lionsbeach.)

"Luckily," Larkstar says, and her voice is tight, like she doesn't really want to be having this conversation but is trying to be polite and allowing it continue, "Spiderleap is dead. So he won't be a problem anymore. Cut of the head and the operation will fall through."

Nightspark... just the cat she wanted to talk to! Honestly, she should've sought him out earlier than now but, well, he's already here now so maybe she can bring up potential candidates to him after he was done with his own business with her.
"Come on in, Nightspark," she grants, sitting eagerly, tail draped over her front paws, its tip twitching up and down in anticipation.

The leader's joke was met with a small smile of agreement, although the smile was far too weary to seem cheerful, she didn't want to be one of those tightasses that couldn't entertain humor. Nodding slightly, the warrior sighed softly. She didn't ever like to hear about borders being closed, because the more cat in RiverClan meant the less cats out in leaf-bare struggling to survive, but the Clan had to come first in these situations. "I know it's not my place, but I would have to agree with you. Leaf-bare is a struggle as it is without having to worry about which of our newest recruits might betray us. Perhaps we'd have better luck with outsiders later on, but it seems like you have enough on your paws as it is." Especially with that damn rogue that Birdsnow herself had fought with on the border not long ago. Times were tough, and some cats seemed to exist solely to cause issues.

The ragdoll stood anxiously into the leader's den entrance, the tiny body of Jackdawkit hanging from her jaws, tears pooling in her eyes. Tears that she wouldn't let fall until she had fled from the public eye. "Larkstar? I... I found Jackdawkit in the territory. They... they're dead, I think they ate something poisonous, because there's not outside wounds. I'm sorry I couldn't... I couldn't get to them in time." She had seen a lot of death, but rarely was it just a tiny body that needed to be buried.
She daresay that this would be the smallest grave she had ever dug.

[awful lark posts my brain doesn't want to brain sorry dbfaowebi]
"I'm sure things have always been like this for RiverClan's past leaders, but it's hard to notice until you're the one dealing with it..." she commented, mostly to herself.
__________
The news of a kit found dead out in the territory, having eaten death berries was not news that Larkwing liked getting, but she had to be informed. And it was Birdsnow who had actually found the little thing, that had to be so much worse..."Thank you for letting me know..." she said gratefully, voice subdued due to the nature of the news.

"I, uhm," She started, for once tripping up on her words, which she quickly dismissed with a soft chuckle of earnest laughter before continuing, "Sorry, what I meant to say was - I would love to try for one of the Lionheart positions you mentioned during the meeting! What do you think, Larkstar?"

"I think that's a great idea," Larkstar smiles. Honestly, she couldn't think of someone more qualified for the position than Cherryswirl - she was very dedicated to RiverClan, and quick to jump into the action, as well as fair and levelheaded. Just what a Lionheart should be. "I want to talk with Nightspark about who I have in mind, but I don't think he'd have anything wrong with you joining."
