He grabbed his rock as they began walking again, discovering quickly that the snow was a liar. Some of his attempts to keep pace with Bite left him swimming in the snow when he veered off the set path upon seeing something interesting.

"What hooman?" He asked after he lost his rock in the deep snow bank and needed rescuing. "Can I bite? taste good do they?" They must be strong if they manage to drive Dawnstar off. If he ate them would he be as strong as Dawnstar then? The idea of being stronger than Momster was absurd and quite frankly impossible to the young cat, being as strong or at least stronger than everyone else made more sense to him.

Once free from the snow, his teeth kept knocking against each other and he couldn't stop shaking. Uncomfortable he latched himself to his mentor's pelt, attempting to press his chilled nose into the tom's fur. It made walking harder, but he was cold so didn't care. His head lifted and his eyes were drawn to the strange structure in the distant Bite called Morning Ruins. Why was it named after the day and how come it was ruin? If it was ruined how can they use it as a camp? He was exceedingly confused about that place, but with his mentor's promise to take him later, he'd save those questions.

As the snow thinned out, he was able to wander a bit further away from his mentor and straight to the bush. His attempts to steal a twig from it were dashed after Bite's stern warning. He backed away from the bushes with a small pout on his maw. Weepingpaw wasn't exactly sure what poison was, but it sounded very bad. "No eat bad berry, Weeping won't." He told him.

"Frog here?" He asked, he had heard those strange-looking prey lived in places with water and mud. "Frog catch want I," Momster said frogs were prey ShadowClan often ate that none of the other clans did, but Weepingpaw never tried one or seen one. They sounded fascinating. While waiting to go, he sniffed the air and circled in search of something new he could stick in his mouth. His teeth were starting to bug him again, he needed something to bite.

Hawkbite would let his tail wrap over Weepingpaw when he drew close, offering an embrace and allowing the apprentice to lean on him for warmth. There were not complaints or disapproval from it, Hawkbite was secretly appreciating the little bit of warmth Weepingpaw was also offering him. He hated this weather and would openly complain about it if allowed.

Weepingpaw's question was innocent, but Hawkbite grew bitter about the topic. Humans. Twolegs. Whatever they wanted to call them. They took everything, they destroyed everything, they were simply a menace to their society. "Humans are also called Twolegs. They're furless creatures that walk on two legs. They control monsters that will eat cats and they steal us away from home," Hawkbite explained without glancing at his apprentice. His teeth gritted as he thought of friends that'd been taken and family that'd been murdered: Vixensnarl, Woollyfeather. There were others, too. His tail lashed once.

That was enough.

"You can try to bite them, but they're very large and very strong. Warriors would have to gather in larger groups to hurt them, I've never seen them hurt before," Hawkbite would finally glance over at Weepingpaw, hiding whatever bitter feelings and hurt he was feeling as he addressed the younger. He must've drawn closer to the bush, because he was quickly evading it before growing distracted again. "Good, make sure no one gets hurt by those berries, very important," Hawkbite praised gently before the next question. His whisker would twitch with amusement. "When it warms up some, I'll bring you back and make sure you can catch a frog. Frogs seem to hide this time of year. Rarely out because they can't hop around in the snow. I'm not sure where they go, but they just seem to disappear," Hawkbite spoke, gesturing for Weepingpaw to continue following him.

The trail led them deeper into the forest. The snow was still fairly thin, the trees blocked most of the weather here. The roots of the trees were more prominent, curling up and around them through the rockier terrain. "This is the Evergreen Grotto," Hawkbite introduced the area, glancing around. "This is a good place for other types of prey, but especially for herbs. The Medicine cats seem to like this area for herbs, so we can't go plucking whatever we want out of the ground here. Any of these plants could be something, but I'm not skilled enough to tell you what's what," he half-joked. Herbs were something Hawkbite didn't pay much attention to or retain. There were other cats for that job.
