Petra was aware of the things that lurked in the desert-- maybe not familiar with the mutants yet, but there were all kinds of venomous snakes and spiders and things of that sort. "Besides-- we've all seen an action movie or two; that train's going to erupt if the fire gets to the fuel car!"
