"Skye?" Chris attempted to hold her steady and ran his hand through her hair. "Hey, hey... I'm here, I'm here."

Skye let out a high-pitched grunt or two, eyes squeezed shut. She clawed at the blankets, desperately reaching out for Chris. Her body began to shake, shadowy images of the past flashing through her subconscious.

Finally she snapped awake with a terrified gasp, eyes flying open. She was disoriented, unsure of where she was or what had happened to the reality she'd awakened from.
