Oh, the first kit had arrived! Berryshine nipped the protective sac around the kit and began licking its fur the opposite way, trying to warm it up. After a moment she helped it tuck into its mother's belly, eyes shining.
"G-Great job, Pearlshine! That's one... I-I know there's a few more in there..." The medic tried not to focus on the fact that the queen already looked particularly tired (as most do when kitting), giving her belly a gentle push with her soft paws. She'd remain positive until proven otherwise.
Berryshine was anxiously watching, then let out a soft sigh of relief when the kit ate the coltsfoot. She let out a purr of approval before glancing at Stormwish. "U-Unfortunately, that's mostly what I can do for coughs. The coltsfoot should help clear up s-some of his wheezing and coughing, assuming it's something that'll get better over time. Otherwise, w-we'll just have to focus on keeping him as healthy as possible — that's proper f-food intake, hydration, and exercise without straining."
The medicine cat's gaze was soft as she looked down at the kit, wondering what it could be. Sometimes sicknesses were obvious to her, but not in this case. It would be a cat she'd have to keep a close eye on. "If the cough persists or keeps getting worse, we'll keep up the doses of coltsfoot. Don't hesitate t-to come to me with anything worrisome, e-even if it's small... okay?" She tried to muster up a comforting look for Stormwish, hoping to ease some of the queen's anxieties: they'd work on it together, and figure out how to best treat Greenkit.
[ you and me both xD ]
Berryshine gave Spiderpaw sympathetic looks and murmurs as she'd applied the cleaning herb, trying to make it as painless as possible — but there wasn't much she could do agains the sting of an infected wound. She was grateful that Spiderpaw was willing to stay; she seemed to have a good temperament, if not being a little timid. The medic had to imagine that someone like Salamanderpaw would've given her much more of a pushback.
But then the 'paw asked the question, and Berryshine was happy to see curiosity. Most cats didn't care to know what was being given to them, and the medicine cat was always happy to explain what herb did what as she treated them. Even if it wasn't their job to remember and heal other cats, Berryshine always liked the idea of knowing what was being given to her and why. Perhaps she was just an overthinking patient herself. Medics made the worst patients, so she'd heard... but had no idea if that was true or not. It didn't seem to make much sense; if you knew how convoluted treating other cats could be, why would you make it hard on the one who's healing you?
Oh, stars, her mind was wandering again. Anyway...
"O-Oh, that was goldenrod," Berryshine explained, her smile softening a bit. Her green eyes always adopted this sort of light whenever she began to describe plants and their work on the body; it was a passion of hers, after all."It grows thickly in late newleaf and greenleaf, s-so you should be seeing plenty of it out in the territory soon as you go on patrols. I-It's excellent at cleaning out wounds — so it must've been that, to make yours feel a bit better. Neither goldenrod nor borage have a-any pain-numbing qualities, but getting the icky stuff o-out of your wound would definitely help lessen the sting. I-I'm glad to hear it feels better, even if it's only a little."
She was exhausted already but determined

Fallenspirit walked into the medicine den carefully and quietly, being sure to not disturb the cats inside. His icy eyes reflected the dim light cast inside the den, an eerie blue glow against his black and orange pelt.
The tom looked behind him at Spiderpaw, gesturing with his head for her to walk in with him. The young she-cat had been hoping to help him, and who was he to stop her. The tom narrowed his eyes while searching for the dark brown she-cat that worked in the den.

Spiderpaw appreciated the medicine cat's sympathetic nature. Her presence was quite calming for the apprentice, and definitely made it easier for her to sit still during this whole kerfuffle. Hmmm. That wasn't the right word, but it was an amusing one.
The young tabby's ears perked up as Berryshine began explaining. Goldenrod... That was a pretty name. Pretty name for a pretty flower. She wondered how many cats had been named Goldenrod-something. She couldn't recall any warriors that she knew with the name. "I wouldn't think that putting anything into a wound would clean it... That sounds backwards." She commented as she settled into the comfortable nest.
She wondered why her nest was never this comfortable in the apprentice den. The medicine cats always got the best bedding materials.

Spiderpaw padded into the medicine cat den with Fallenshadow, pelt mostly dry after their... swimming lesson at Lionsbeach. She wasn't really sure she wanted more swimming training... but at least her legs felt stronger beneath her. Exhausted and a little bit shaky, but definitely stronger. She wasn't here for her silly, tired legs, though, and was pretty certain she'd already coughed up most of the water she had inhaled.
This was for Fallenspirit. Maybe the Berryshine would have some answers for the warrior... besides, she really didn't mind seeing the kind medicine cat again.

▁▂▃▅▆▇ »•» the Tom limped into the den, getting hit with the strong smell of herbs, his nose wrinkled as he huffed and sat down with a lifted paw. "berryshine?" he meowed politely "uhm-...do you think you can help me out with this? its just a scratch...I need it checked out though" he really wanted to lick and clean the wound but he wasn't sure if that would help it. «•« ▇▆▅▃▂▁
Star padded in, looking around with wide, washed out blue eyes. She had been in here before, of course, many times. But now she was the one injured. She was limping veeeeerrryyy slightly, thanks to the scratch wound on her shoulder, and the one on her cheek. They had gotten infected, she could tell, the smell of them making her feel rather ill. At least she was sure what infection looked and smelled like now. The inky black she-kit looked around carefully, a bundle of flowers in her maw, ones that she had been picking for Berryshine when she fell in the thorn bush. "Uhm Berryshine? My scratches got infected, I think..." Oh, Nightkit hoped that the medic wouldn't be mad at her.. But it was her fault, so she understood. Oh well
