Rook had been thinking about this for a while. Thinking, debating, contemplating, the whole nine tails whether he should ask for an honor name. It had been on his mind for a few moons now. Today was the damn day. The lean chimera inhaled deeply and padded towards Ares, heterochromatic gaze gleaming as they slunk through the terrain to the leader.

"Ares. I wanted to speak to you about an Honor name." Rook said clinically, cool and calm despite the rising tension building in his throat. Stars damned he was worried. What if Ares believed he wasn't ready? What if he wasnt ready? What if.. no. No what if's.

Ares’ sharp eyes flicked up at the sound of Rook’s approach, catching the simmering tension in the chimera’s gait before the tom even spoke. His head tilted slightly, ears twitching with curiosity. Honor names were rare in the Atari, and rarer still were cats that asked for one. It wasn’t a decision taken lightly, one had to prove themselves worthy, far beyond just surviving or completing their duties. There had to be something more.

His eyes narrowed slightly as Rook spoke, his voice calm but with a weight behind it. Ares could practically feel the force of the decision hanging in the air.

“An Honor name?” Ares echoed, his tone neutral but not without a spark of interest. He wouldn’t kiss ass, but Rook seemed to be one of the more competent cats around nowadays. “What makes you think you're ready for one?” His gaze sharpened, as if searching for…something.

He stood there for a long moment, studying Rook’s reaction before nodding slowly. “If you're asking, then you must have earned it in your own head." Ares looked off towards the mountainside, then back at Rook. "But I’ll need more than just your word. What has made you believe now is the time? What’s pushed you to ask?” He wouldn’t let Rook back down now, not after showing his determination.

Rook's ears perked as Ares actually seemed to consider the thought. His heterochromatic gaze gleaming with determination. In his mind- he hadn't earned this yet. This was something he had dreamed of and he wanted to prove that. Prove to himself and everyone.

"I haven't earned it in my head yet sir. I want to earn it. Brutus isn't here, and I wanted to live up to her. I'm asking because I want to earn this. We've had enough bad news. I want to push myself even further, and give the Atari something to push themselves for too." Rook said, brows knitted as he raised his head.
