Personality

➳Positive traits: kind, generous, protective, compassionate

➳Nuetral traits: brave, brooding, adventurous, gentle, stubborn

➳Negative traits: forgetful, grudge holder, depressed, regretful

➳Overall: kind and brave, yet forgetful

➳Detailed desc: Jaguartooth is kind. He will willingly do anything to help anyone, just to see that they're happy; it'll mean he did something right. He doesn't believe in cruelty over kindness, and he's always trying to make others feel better. He's bluntly honest. He doesn't sugar-coat anything, he is always straightforward and will tell you what's what, even if it isn't something good. He is stubborn, refusing to give up on something until he accomplishes whatever task he happens to be trying to achieve. This stubborn streak also makes him think his own way, do his own thing, which sometimes got him into trouble when he was younger. Forgetful, he's always forgetting this and that, sometimes major things like the morning he'd been assigned for a hunting patrol, or even little things like where he had last put something.
He's generous, always willing to give things to those who need it, or even giving a gift, because he wants to see others smile. For example, the time he gave Lightpaw the daisy, he felt proud when she complimented the flower, happy knowing he made her happy. Brooding, he's always unhappy with what's going on in his head. He tends to be deep in thought a lot, with a frown on his face, which shows he's not happy with whatever he's thinking about. A grudge holder, if you hurt someone he cares about, you can bet he won't forgive easily. It will take a lot of favours and apologies before he will even consider accepting you back into his circle. Adventurous, he's always wanting to discover new places and things or do the extreme, for the sake of thrill or to satisfy his curiosity. Compassionate, he is a sweet, kind, sympathetic tom, and is always willing to help others cheer up, or even just hold some cat as they cry. He's the most compassionate cat you'll ever get to know, so don't take him for granted. Gentle, he may be fierce and ruthless in battle, but when he's not fighting an enemy, he would never hurt another. He knows he's large and strong, so he takes care to be careful around those smaller or weaker than him. He's a gentle giant, as some would say. His gentle, easygoing demeanor has helped him makes more friends in more recent moons. He is intelligent. He is always the thinker, the scientist. This isn't immediately obvious, but once you get to know him, you'll see that he's quite the brainy one.
Jaguartooth is brave. He isn't afraid of much, and doesn't hesitate to protect those in danger. He is also willing to do hard tasks, whether it's to go out in a snowstorm to hunt, or to go on a long mission into the unknown, he won't hesitate, despite the dangers. You can always count on him, while others may run with their tail between their legs. He's protective, always willing to protect others who are in need of those he cares about. His protective nature is partially due to how he couldn't save his mother; he doesn't want to let anyone else down. A regretful tom, if he's done something that he thinks he shouldn't have, he will have a lot of trouble getting over it. He is always thinking badly of himself, and he has trouble forgetting his regrets for his mistakes. He is depressed, slowly spiralling into an unstable mind, mainly due to his grief for his beloved Lightpaw. He spends most of his days sulking now, saddened and constantly tired, though the responsibility and joy of teaching his new apprentice has taken his mind off of his depression somewhat. Fierce, if you're pitted against him in battle, you'll see his skills are quite remarkable; you wouldn't want to turn your back against this experienced warrior. Jaguartooth is lonely, not because he doesn't have friends, but because he hasn't found love since Lightpaw died.

Looks

➳Breed: orange Maine coon

➳Height: quite tall

➳Weight: very heavy

➳Base colour: light orange

➳Markings: spots and splotches all along his pelt

➳Marking colour(s): a darker orange than the base colour

➳Eye colour(s): a light amber

➳Body type: large, muscular, well built

➳Scar(s): small scars litter his pelt, along with a long one across his left hip that is hidden by his long fur

➳Detailed desc: he's quite a large cat. He towers over pretty much everyone, which can sometimes get uncomfortable for him, especially when they have to look up to meet his eyes. His body is muscular and well built, and his legs are sturdy, with large paws and a wide, broad head. This muscle and large size gives him a good advantage for fighting, though he knows he needs to watch out, as it could be his downfall, too. His eyes are a light amber mottled with gold, and are usually half closed lazily. They're easy to get lost in. His fur is quite long and thick, especially on his tail and belly, which makes it hard to care for, though he certainly doesn't mind spending some time in the sunshine giving himself a good washing. His tail is long and flowy, usually being swept along the ground as he slept. He has light orange fur, and darker orange markings in patterns and spots and splotches all along his pelt, and it is mesmerizing to look at. His muzzle is wide and seems to always hold a frown. His ears are large and wide, with small orange tufts. His whiskers are long and twitch when he's deep in thought. His health condition is near perfect, and he luckily doesn't tend to get sick, yet his mental health isn't all there. His build is especially muscular in the legs, his muscles rippling when he moves. He is quite heavy, his overall weight pretty crushing due to his large size. His nose is pink, and the insides of his ears are a light tan. He has small scars that litter his pelt, caused by many battles fought. He has one but scar across his left hip that, although it's hidden by his long fur, it's a reminder to him of something that happened long ago

➳Backstory: his mother was at one time a kittypet named Dawn. She was a pretty Maine coon, and was always adventuring into the forest outside her twoleg den. She was growing tired of living in her home, though her housefolk loved and cared for her, and she had many kittypet friends. She just wasn't... content. Her favourite past time became journeying among the trees, sniffing out prey to play around with (she didn't really want to eat them), and she would climb trees and bound around among the grass, just having fun. Perfectly harmless, or so one would think. However, one day she decided to journey farther than ever before, only to be bombarded by many cat scents. They smelled... wild. Before she could turn and sneak away, she was tackled by a tom, who clawed her back. She recoiled, then rolled along the ground, causing him to unattach his claws. She leaped to her paws, and the tom hissed, "How dare you trespass on ThunderClan territory? This is no place for kittypets!" he lunged at her, and Dawn leaped to the side, then slammed her paws into his flank. Another cat, a cream coloured she-cat, stepped forward. "Let her go, Blazetail. She's done no harm. Though she is pretty impressive." Blazetail grunted and sheathed his claws back into his paws. However, he kept glaring daggers at her. "I think we should take her to Passionstar," he said, glancing at the other three in the patrol with a look that invited no argument. Dawn couldn't help but stare at him, though; he was so handsome! And strong! And brave! She was immediately smitten, though she kept it hidden. She realised she was gaping like a fish and snapped her jaws shut before dipping her head at Blazetail and the other wild cats respectfully. As she followed them deep into the forest, she felt excitement prickle her pelt; she was going to see more cats! But what was this ThunderClan they kept talking about? And what kinds of names are Blazetail and Passionstar?
Once they reached the camp, she gazed around, eyes wide. So many cats! Surely there can't be this many cats in the forest! She smiled at them, trying to be friendly, however her head shrunk back into her neck a bit at the hostility in some of their eyes. When Passionstar appeared, they had a long talk, mostly wanting to know how she fought so well, until he finally suggested she join ThunderClan, since she was so discontent with her kittypet life. She was torn between her loving housefolk and the cats here, so Passionstar gave her until the next sunrise to decide. She left, going back home for a day and night, trying to decide. However, as she was trying to sleep, a name came to her mind: Blazetail. She already had a crush on the tom, and she wanted to see him again, hopefully this time without hostility. I'll do it, she thought. I'll join ThunderClan, even if it's to see Blazetail again. So, right before sunrise, she raced out of the pet door, into the forest to where she remembered the camp being. She looked around for Passionstar, and spotted him outside the den, waiting for her. They didn't need to exchange words; just one nod from the tom and she knew she was an official member. She was given the warrior name Dawnlight.
During her first few days in ThunderClan, she learns all about the warrior code and the other Clans and what it means to fight for your own. Blazetail had dismissed all hostility towards her, so now he was sweet and helpful towards her, doing what he could to make her comfortable. This delighted her, and they became closer to one another. She grew even more smitten, and realised she loved him, though she wasn't sure if he felt the same. So, one morning while they were hunting together, she confessed her feelings for him. And, he said he loved her back. Dawnlight was delighted!
A few moons later, Dawnlight found out she was expecting Blazetail's kits. She immediately had to move from the warrior's den to the nursery, and while she did get along well with the other queens and kits, she was bored and lonely without being able to sleep next to her mate or do her warrior duties. And for some reason, Blazetail has been gone from camp a lot more than usual lately. However, when she announced the kits were coming, she felt excitement as well as the pain ripple through her. First came a big, orange kit, then came a small brown kit, and finally, a small grey kit. However, much to Dawnlight's horror and sorrow, the medicine cat announced the last two as stillborn. The two dead kits were taken away to be buried, and although she was sad, Dawnlight was proud of her first kit. After the birthing was over and the medicine cat had left, Blazetail appeared into the nursery, and seemingly shared in the grief when he learned that the last two kits hadn't made it. Together they named their only kit Jaguarkit, after the darker orange spots and splotches over his lighter orange base coat.
Jaguarkit was an impulsive, confident young tom. He was also troublesome, always going where he shouldn't. However, every cat saw potential in him from the moment he opened his eyes. He got along well with the other queens and kits in the nursery, and he was raised with love and warmth by his parents. He was especially close to an older tom kit named Tallkit. They did everything together, however as they grew older, they became more distant. When it was time for Tallkit to become an apprentice and leave the nursery, Jaguarkit felt crushed that his best friend had left, but he wished him the best anyway. It was a couple of moons before his own apprentice ceremony, and he tried to make the best of it by playing with the other kits, but it just wasn't the same. He grew restless, and as much as Dawnlight tried to curb him from getting into trouble, he seemed to always be into something. Tallpaw sometimes greeted him when passing by, but never stopped to play. Jaguarkit was just a sad kit who spent his time either napping or getting into something he shouldn't.
When the day came for his own apprentice ceremony, he was shaking with excitement. He had been waiting forever for this day, he declared. He couldn't wait to learn to hunt and fight, and to see Tallpaw. Jaguarkit was given the name Jaguarpaw, and he was apprenticed to Finchheart. Once he touched noses with the older tom, he felt pride swell in his chest, gazing at the warrior with excitement and happiness. However, nothing would have prepared him for his training sessions.
Although the battle training sessions were efficient and useful, they were brutal, rough, and exhausting. Finchheart taught his apprentice with a ferocity that sent Jaguarpaw cowering in his nest after each one, cuts, scrapes, and bruises littering his pelt each day. When not apprentice training or talking to Tallpaw, Jaguarpaw would sleep. He didn't eat much. He wasn't sure how much longer he could take it. One morning, he was finally assigned to a solo hunting session, to see how well he had learned. He, too, had been aware his father had been spending less and less time in camp. He was racing after a squirrel when he came upon an acrid, repulsive smell. He suddenly fell into a whole, and stumbled upon a rotting mess of two dead cats, covered in dried blood and ants. He gasped and scrabbled out of the hole, backing away, wide-eyed with his ears pinned back on his head. He scented Blazetail all over the bodies. So... this is why his father was always out camp! Who knew what other bodies he had hidden? Jaguarpaw whimpered and turned tail, racing back to camp, filled with the desperate need to tell Passionstar.
When he crashed into the clearing, several cats ran to him with concern at the fear and terror in his eyes and his bristling fur. He demanded to see Passionstar, and told the leader everything. The leader sent out a patrol to where the bodies were. Jaguarpaw ran to the warrior's den to check on his mum, only to find that she had been sliced across the throat and bled to death. That was it for the young cat. He felt broken and helpless, and he was immediately ushered out. The medicine cat treated Jaguarpaw for shock. Then, the patrol returned and announced the apprentice had been right. Passionstar immediately ordered that Blazetail be sentenced to death, and Jaguarpaw watched with sadness and regret as several warriors surrounded Blazetail, and there was a slice of claws, a spatter of blood, a scream, and then... it was all over.
Jaguarpaw was given a few days to rest and recover, then continued training. One morning he was given his warrior name, Jaguartooth.
He was his normal self again, and he did his warrior duties, though he didn't have as many friends as he once had due to his father's crimes. Most were now suspicious of the young warrior, and they seemed convinced he would follow in Blazetail's paw steps. Jaguartooth tried his hardest to make a good image and reputation for himself, though he struggled. When he was one day chosen to lead.a patrol to the Outskirts to look for catmint that was desperately needed, he accepted willingly. He lead his cats to the cliffs, when he was suddenly tackled by a black rogue. He cried out and stumbled a bit before yowling a battle cry as two other rogues appeared. The rest of the patrol fought, and soon, only the black cat remained, as the other two rogues had turned tail and ran. The black tom snarled and sliced his claws across Jaguartooth's left hip, and the warrior butted his head against the rogue's chest, causing him to skid across the cliff. Suddenly he lost his footing, and began to fall from the edge but managed to catch his front paws on the edge. Jaguartooth ran over at the rogue's pleas for help. The warrior tried his best to bring the rogue up, but there was nothing he could do. The rogue fell, screaming the whole way down, while Jaguartooth watched with horror and desperation and grief, grief not for the rogue himself, but grief because he couldn't save him. Because Jaguartooth wasn't a killer. He wasn't. He stood there until one of the cats in his patrol gently nudged him away, leading the shocked warrior back to camp, the rest of the patrol trudging behind. They never got the catmint, and had let their leader down.
Jaguartooth was out hunting one morning when a huge squirrel ran past his nose. He bolted after it, delighted to have found something to take back to camp. He was so intent on his chase that he was unaware that he had passed into ShadowClan territory. Just as he was closing in on his target, a weight slammed into him, and he caught a glimpse of black fur and yellow orbs. He yowled and swiped his claws at her as she hissed in his ear, asking why he was there. He apologized profusely, desperate for her to get off of him without having to hurt her. She grunted in pity and hopped off, and when Jaguartooth got his first good look at her, he was softened by how beautiful she was. He learned her name was Lightpaw. They had a long talk there beside the border, and when it was time to go, they were reluctant to leave each other. Lightpaw suggested they begin meeting at Seastones, and the young warrior agreed, but warned her they had to keep their meetings to themselves. Their own little secret. The thrill of the idea excited Jaguartooth, and, as agreed, they met at moonhigh the next night. Jaguartooth had hunted a plump rabbit for them to share, and once she appeared at the rocks, Jaguartooth immediately started to get to know her and complimented her. They talked about this and that as they shared the food, and he told her all about StarClan. The warrior found he enjoyed the ShadowClan apprentice's company, loved it, even. However, when it became colder and close to sunrise, they knew it was time to go back to their own camps. They agreed to meet the next night at moonhigh again. When Jaguartooth got back to the camp, he found that every thought he had was about Lightpaw. He even found himself constantly smiling, much to the suspicion of his Clan. He was so excited for night to come that his tail twitched impatiently all day as he went about his warrior duties. When night finally fell, he went to his nest in the warrior's den, trying his best to sleep until it was time to go. He didn't realise that sleep had finally come to him until a loud warbling, a normal sound, jolted him awake. He slipped outside to glance at the sky. It was almost moonhigh! He was going to be late! He hurriedly left camp, racing towards Seastones, when he slowed as he passed a patch of lovely daisies. Tilting his head in confusion, he wondered why there were healthy daisies in Leaf-bare. Shrugging it off, he gently picked the largest, prettiest one and held it in his jaws lightly as he ran the rest of the way to Seastones. When he reached their spot, he was relieved to see Lightpaw hadn't arrived yet. Just as he hid the flower under a bush, he saw the small, dark forme of Lightpaw moving across the sand towards him. He gave her a huge smile as she leaped up beside him, and when he nervously presented the daisy to her, she gushed over and complimented the flower, tucking it behind her ear. Jaguartooth felt pride swell in his chest, and he knew he was smitten. Though he kept it to himself. He would later realise this was the biggest mistake he would ever make.
They talked all throughout the night. The first thing they talked about was their pasts. Jaguartooth learned that Lightpaw had originally been a loner named Light and her family had been killed by a murderous rogue. Her parents had taught her a little on hunting and fighting, and when ShadowClan took her in, her mentor was impressed by what she already knew. Jaguartooth listened carefully and showed sweet sympathy, then began to tell her about his parents and how murderous his father had been, and about how nobody seemed to trust him anymore. They shared in each other's grief before he learned something even more terrifying: Lightpaw had been recruited by the Dark Forest cat Scorndusk! Apparently the evil tom had rescued Lightpaw from drowning and was now training her in the Place of No Stars. Apparently he had convinced her that it was her only way of returning the favour. She said the sessions were brutal and bloody and terrifying, and she looked so frightened, so worried that Jaguartooth couldn't help but pull her to him and promise her he would find a way to stop Scorndusk. When he pulled away, he said that he must leave, as once again, it was close to sunrise. They went back to their own camps. After that, they met at Seastones almost every night.
One evening, it was time for the gathering. Jaguartooth was so excited he could hardly wait. Of course, he had been to many gatherings, but this one would be different. It would be the first time Lightpaw and him would have the chance to talk to each other openly. He knew they could walk around and talk all they wanted, since it was a time for peace between the Clans. He was so happy and excited he had to resist the urge to hop around on his paws. Once he arrived at the gathering with his clan, he immediately spotted Lightpaw a good distance away, talking to some other apprentices. He immediately padded over to her, then casually invited her to walk around with him. They happily walked among the throngs of cats, purring, their eyes bright as they talked to each other. He was extremely happy to see her, and she felt the same. When the gathering was over, he gave her a lick on the nose, sadly said farewell, and went to rejoin his Clan for the trip back. As his clan left, he felt Lightpaw's yellow eyes on him until they were out of the clearing.
He went back to Seastones the next night as they had agreed, but he waited for the whole night, and... Lightpaw never showed. He went back to his clan once it was close to sunrise, figuring that she was busy. But he went back the next night, and the next, and the next, each with no appearance of Lightpaw. He was in a desperate worry now, and he found that during the day he wasn't his usual self. He found he was always getting answers to questions wrong, failing to catch prey that had once been effortless for him, and even spent more time sleeping than he used to. Still, he went back every night, in the hopes that Lightpaw would show.
One afternoon Tallear, who had been Jaguartooth's childhood friend, came up to him telling him that they had been assigned to go on a hunting patrol together. Although they hadn't said a word to each other since they had been apprentices, Jaguartooth was very glad to be spending time with his old friend again. But as they talked to one another, Jaguartooth was shocked by how much Tallear had changed. Jaguartooth was telling him how the Clans should be helping one another since they were in a time of need, but the older tom made it clear the clans didn't need one another. Jaguartooth's old friend had grown independent and had grown a dislike for the other clans, as if they were all enemies. This chilled Jaguartooth to the bone, and he was glad when they finished hunting and he could escape to his nest.
When it had been two moons and it was time for the next gathering, he realised if he went, Lightpaw might be there. Luckily, he was chosen to go, and once he arrived he looked everywhere for her. He couldn't find her anywhere and felt crushed; however, nothing could prepare him for what he heard from a group of ShadowClan apprentices chatting nearby. He heard the word Lightpaw and casually eavesdropped, only to hear the worst thing he thought he ever could: Lightpaw had died. A tree had fallen on her during a storm. No wonder the young cats sounded so sad. He shook his head over and over and over. No, no, no, no!!! It can't be! He immediately scampered away, not wanting to hear any more. He scrunched himself into a corner, drowning in his own sadness, not even hearing what the leaders and deputies and medicine cats were saying. He didn't even cheer when several new apprentices were announced. He just crouched there, just waiting for the gathering to be over so he could get away from this place. He didn't even realise that the place he was crouched was the place he and Lightpaw had been meeting during their nights together.
Once he was back in camp, he spiralled into a deep depression. He was heartbroken and saddened, though he wouldn't tell any cat why. When he was one afternoon chosen to mentor an apprentice, Lilacpaw, he agreed reluctantly, hoping that training her would help him forget his grief.
