Training a Clearpaw

[Raven~]

Grayheart stalked over to the apprentices' den. He was less than grilled to be training an apprentice. Apprentices were just bigger kits, in his opinion. But he wanted to make a good impression, so he woul just train this cat, make to his warrior ceremony, then just forget him. Simple.
"Clearpaw!" He called into the apprentices' den. "Get out here! We are doing training! Now!"

Clearpaw faintly acknowledged the voice of his "mentor" yelling from outside the apprentices' den. He growled, burrowing even deeper into his nest. If Grayheart wanted something, the warrior could come inside and get him, as opposed to yelling like a maniac from outside the den.

Grayheart growled. Stupid. Idiot. Apprentice. He stomped into the den and prodded Clearpaw. "Get up!" He barked. He was already annoyed at his apprentice. He had no idea why he had been stuck with such a lazy apprentice. For a blissful second he thought about throwing him off a cliff. But he guessed Greystorm wouldn't be very happy about that. He prodded Clearpaw again, more out of spite this time.

Clearpaw flinched as Grayheart prodded him with a claw. "Okay, fine, whatever," Clearpaw muttered, scrambling to his feet and blinking the sleep out of his eyes. "What now, O Great Mentor?"

Grayheart rolled his eyes. "First, drop the attitude. It will not be tolerated. And, just for that, you can see if any elders need tick-cleaning. Now, come on. We're going hunting." This apprentice needed to be taught some lessons, and Grayheart figured making him hunt would do just that. Nothing could hurt more than not being able to catch a single price of prey. Of course, Grayheart had never known that kind of embarrassment. He always caught his prey.
