Mushy’s baby bootcamp

Now was the time to start any defensive training that Rushingmoor could offer the weak and young and inexperienced of the clan; now, before Dawnstar and her lackeys were situated stably in the camp. Rushingmoor also would not hear of not preparing the children of the clan for this time of unprecedented danger in their own home. He wouldn’t put it past Dawnstar’s warriors to injure a kit and had literally witnessed Dawnstar herself murder one so priority number one was making sure these kids knew how to run away successfully.

Baby boot camp started now and Rushingmoor shoved his way into the nursery, clearing his throat to gather attention before letting his deep voice carry throughout the den with all of his moons of speaking up in meetings and shutting down dissenters allowing it to fill the warm, dim space.

“Kits of Windclan, listen up. As you may have witnessed recently, there are some dangerous things going on around camp. In order to make sure that everyone is prepared for the changes to come, I have decided to take some time and teach you guys some very special warrior moves. Some of the other warriors may not think that you guys can protect the camp but I say that you are perfectly ready to start learning how to be warriors! Protecting Windclan means protecting its future- yourselves. Follow me out into the clearing for your special warrior training if you wish to participate.”

With that, Mushy turned and left the den, thankful to be out of the stifling conditions and suddenly glad he wasn’t a she-cat. There was one more stop to make before the baby training could begin so the striped warrior trotted over to the apprentice den. He lost his breath somewhat, shocking and angering himself at his body’s betrayal at this time when he was needed most. His fur looked duller than usual and flashes of rib poked through, nearly as noticeable as the weary look to his eyes and the occasional moans coming from his stomach. It was at that moment that he realized he’d yet to eat that day... or the day before... but this was more important. He’d finish baby boot camp for the day and go hunting again and then allow himself to grab food before he took a shift guarding the camp.

The Tom shook these plans out of his head and poked into the apprentice den to shout,

“Up and at it, apprentices. You’re all going to get a refresher on evasive maneuvers while I teach the kits. I expect all of you to be on your best behavior and be role models for the kits. Let’s go.”

Once the apprentices were sufficiently informed of the task at paw, Rushingmoor pulled back and trudged toward an area of the clearing directly between the apprentice den and the nursery. He couldn’t take the kits to the territory to train but didn’t want to take up the whole clearing so it was better to stay off to the side.

As the kids began to appear, Rushingmoor wondered if he should ask another warrior to assist or even an elder apprentice. Speaking of elders, should he offer them a chance to brush up on their skills. Back to asking for an assistant, though, maybe he should send an apprentice to grab Stagleech. His son wasn’t much of a fighter but he was skilled enough to offer basic evasive tactics and he’d at least be another pair of paws to keep things under control and intercept questions.

Cedarpaw walked out,the injured shecat had a light scar on her face from stempaw,she looked at Rushingmoor one word came to her mind. great.. not really but she was more than happy to train with her fellow den mates. Fine im up,whats up Rushingmoor,Is this extra training? Fine.

Hedgekit was definately hyped for this. She loved playfighting and some evasive maneuvers would come in handy.

Stormkit stepped beside his sister just hoping she wouldn't get hurt from this. He did not want to get dragged into this but reluctantly he mewed. "I guess ill join." He was very frustrated with Ravenkit for this, but whatever would keep her from getting killed by running off.

Heronkit was only somewhat ill. Okay they were a mess but they weren't going to admit that and so, they'd managed to squeeze out of the medicine cat's den after making sure that Crowtooth was asleep. They may have patted his head to make sure that the warrior who apparently followed their every move was asleep.

So.. they were there. Sitting and watching the warrior while snot ran down their nose and their breathing was a wheeze but... they still wanted to fight. And beat cats up, despite their apparent sickness they were not going to miss out on this.

Hmmm. Those sounded like big words to Robinpaw; evasive maneuvers? Maybe he could use a nice refresher (or, as you could say, a refreshing refresher!) -- especially if it included big words, because those were cool. Maybe Robinpaw didn't really know what they meant - it sounded like he had to do a bunch of work (which he frowned at) - but still, he had nothing to lose. The tan and cream apprentice eagerly let himself be a part of this, although he didn't let himself blurt anything out in case of squealing and/or word barf. Evasive maneuvers!~
