Hunting Blind [OPEN]

He could feel the sun disappearing below the horizon. The hot rays of the Sun caressed his body before being whittled away by the cool winds of night. The tom cat shivered at the sudden winds. His fur still protected him from the brunt of it, allowing him to be comfortable. But he always preferred the warmth the sun gave him.

Night was nothing to him. It was cold and quiet while the day had several mice and birds milling about, making mistakes with how much noise they created.

However it wasn't lost of him in how much of an edge he had when hunting at night or in the cooler parts of the forest. Where the Sun couldn't reach him.

The tom had earned the name Void after all. He didn't understand why but he appreciated the nickname.

Void pointed his ears towards the scent of the plains, walking out ever so carefully and calmly. He didn't need his heartbeat messing with his hearing. There were many dangers at night, Void may be part of the proud species that conquered the night and its shadows, but there were others as well.

The tales of the beasts called Owls frightened him the most. And the plains was a perfect hunting ground for such a beast.

But Void was hungry...

He lowered himself closer to the ground as he pushed through the scratchy grasses. So unlike the forest grass. Yet he pushed forward, pausing as he heard a soft snap of... something...

Could it be a nesting mouse?

Void slowly turned towards the sound. Lifting one paw and then the other as he adjusted and readjusted himself and...

POUNCE!!!!

Thrush was wandering, lost an alone. He had strayed away from his family moons ago and never found them again. He had a strange sensation that this had happened before, but he couldn't recall it. Thats when he saw the tom. A pure black, skinny looking cat. He had just killed a mouse. Sighing, Thrush aproached him. So far most of the cats he'd met had been hostile or only let him stick around for a little while. He hoped this tom was different. "Hey" He mewed quietly. "I'm Thrush, who are you?" The young tom mewed

Void sunk his teeth into the vermin, easily killing it in his jaws before it had even been able to make a squeak. Hunting, like with all cats, came naturally to him. The black cat had been able to practice from when he was a kit to his early teen moons in the water barn not too far away.

What he wasn't used to were other cats. At least cats who weren't related to him. And Void couldn't lie, the fur his back bristled a little when he heard the pawsteps approaching him. His tail thrashed. With how his mouth was filled with nothing but mouse scent, it didn't help him realize that what was behind him wasn't a fox.

Thank goodness the stranger introduced himself!

Void calmed, releasing the now dead mouse from his jaws to turn and face the new cat. It was rude to speak with your mouth full and not make eye contact.... well at least attempt at it. The fact that he was missing a pair of his own didn't really help matters.

"Heya!" Void purred, the whites of his teeth being the other thing visible against the all consuming darkness that was the tom's pelt. "I'm Void, nice to meet'cha! How goes it?"

Thrush stifled a gasp and blinked hard trying to not flinch at the cats face. He, he had no eyes! "Nice to meet you too." Thrush mewed. "Not well, actually. I've been lost from my family for 2, wait maybe 3 moons now." Thrush sighed. "And no ones treated me well so far. Only a few cats have let me tag along with them for a few days, then leave. Even though I hunt & fish for myself, and make my own shelter..." Thrush mewed trailing off.

The molly lifted her head to the blowing breeze, her grey and dark brown pelt blowing as the trees ruffled. Her green eyes glimmered as she watched the ground below her, sitting herself on a large tree branch. Her family said that Owl fit her, originally named Bird. She sighed as she thought of the name, her parents then changed it at 3 moons. She curled her fluffy tail around her, then noticing the black tom. Her eyes slitted gently, worried that he might be hostile. She leaned forward on the tip of the branch, watching as he caught the mouse, other cat coming in. His name was... Thrush. Sh e sighed, hitting the ground with no sound, hoping that she was hidden.

Void's brows furrowed in worry as he listened to the cat's tales of woe. He had lost his family? Oh the poor cat! The dark cat was so moved that he pawed his catch in the direction the voice he was listening to was coming from.

"Here then, this one's on me." Void purred, his muzzle upturning into a smile. "I lost my family too... or rather they lost me, but even so! I know that pain at least." he added, curling his tail around his paws.

"I'm sorry other cats have been mean to you, in a world like this? That's just awful, we should be sticking together through the thick and thin... you know? Helpin' each other out and such..." Void shrugged, "It helps with keepin' on livin'."

Void gave Thrush a sympathetic smile. "Suit yourself." he meowed, taking the mouse back. What? If Thrush didn't want it then Void would eat it! Letting freshkills go to waste had no sense. "Honestly wish I had known my dad, I don't know if he'd like me but yeah, you're lucky." Void shrugged, settling down. He trapped his freshkill between his paws and began to rip the fur from it.

"Not really!" Void answered between his teeth, "That sounds like a good community to be in, honestly, I think there are some forest cats living like that." he added as he pulled his head up and tried to get mouse fur out of his mouth. "But I live out here on my own, y'know?"

(Im telling you now, Dawnstar won't allow Void to join. She won't let any cats with physical differences to join ShC. And in ShC, " Joining as an outsider is closed. Joining as a cat from another Clan is closed. Joining as an apprentice without a mentor is closed. If a mentor is unable to be found, cats must start off as kits and go through the proper ceremony to receive their mentor." Currently only ThC joining is open, but we could ask when ShC/RC/WC will open if you have another clan in mind)

"Yeah, I have a strange sensation that I've lived alone before, but I can't remember anytime other than now." Thrush mewed, concerned. "And I was abandoned then too, before finding cats to care for me, who I cant really remember now."
