Clara walked through the ruins of a town that she used to know. With Halfheart, her cat friend, walking with her, the young girl scanned the wreckage, looking for the one house that she should be able to see from a mile away if she could see. There was so much smoke and ash in the air that it made it hard to breathe.

Clara walked through the ruins of a town that she used to know. The small cat maneuvered through the rubble, her double-tabby fur half hidden among the ashy objects. Her ears perked at the rustling an empty box made, as a rat skittered out of it. Halfheart was about to pounce when the black vile thing turned and stared at her... Three eyes?!? Ew!! Halfheart would not sleep well that night... She glanced back up at Clara, following her gaze to the broken structures around them.

Clara watched Halfheart see the three-eyed rat and look back up at her. There! She pointed at a still-standing house near the back of the town. Yes! My house! She charged at it, going faster than her cat friend because of how tall she was, leaving her in the dust.

Halfheart was not prepared for Clara's next moves. She pointed at something, which Halfheart found to be another Twoleg nest. Is that what they were looking for right now? Clara's home? Cool. And when Clara charged ahead, Halfheart kinda just stared at her for a second- then realized what just happened and bounded after Clara.

Clara ran right into her old home and tripped over a wooden board sticking out from the ground, throwing out her arms to catch herself, and felt the board stab into her leg. "OW!!" She hollered, both of her legs going up into the air as her body hit the floor. She jumped up and fell back down, falling on her rear end, and held her wound, feeling a tear of pain running down her face. The rumble of thunder was heard up above again, which made Clara hopeful before she finally took note of what was around her when Halfheart caught up to her. She was sitting where the front door would be, which was gone, most likely rotting away over time. The living room was destroyed, and in the midst of the broken couch, Clara caught what looked like a human hand sticking out of the damage. She gaged, looking away. The young girl held one hand on her mouth to stop herself from throwing up and the other on her leg wound to try and stop the bleeding. More tears started to stream down her face when she realized who that hand might belong to. Did... did my family survive? Or am I... the only one left?

Halfheart's fur fluffed up when she saw Clara trip and get her leg stabbed. The double-tabby she cat was distraught, and it got even worse when she felt the tremors in the ground from the thunder. She hated feeling the vibrations, they always made it hard to focus. She saw Clara gag, and wondered what for. She remembered her leg, and jumped over to the other side of the girl to look at it. She knew what they needed, just not where to get it... Medicine, where would twolegs keep medicine? (((The doctor dungeon lol)))
Maybe their medicine den in the nest? She jumped away for a second.

The bed frame was still intact, which didn't surprise Clara, as it was made of metal, and just got very rusty, but the bedsheets and pillows and pillowcases were almost gone, if not gone already. The mattress looked like it might explode in a puff of cotton at any moment. So Clara half expected it to blow up when she threw herself on it. But it didn't. She looked down at Halfheart and pointed out of the room. Go. Bathroom. There is medicine and first-aid stuff there. She tried to pretend she was opening up a first-aid kit, wrapping bandages around her hurt leg and drinking medicine, and pointed out of the room again.

She watched carefully as Clara did stuff with her hands, pointing and moving them around her leg. Halfheart went in the direction she pointed, and when she got there found that this den was still mostly intact. Medicine place!
She jumped on a tall white thing, her claws catching on its chipped white surface. She nudged a red box-thing, and it popped open- just like Clara had motioned. Herbs? Halfheart closed it again and snatched it up. She leaped down, carrying it back to Clara. She jumped onto the nest-thing beside Clara, and popped the red thing open again. Inside was a couple orange containers, a blue container, and some fluffy stuff like the gauze Sly had brought when Clara made him bite her arm. Ew. she thought, wrinkling her nose as she remembered the scene.

When it popped open, the girl took a few things from it. she opened one of the orange bottles and dipped some gauze in it. Then came the painful part. Clara needed to clean her wound if she was to treat it right. When she touched her wound with that gauze, she almost jumped to her feet because of the stinging pain it gave her, but she carried on. Halfheart seemed to sense her pain. Finally, Clara opened another part of the kit to reveal bandages. She wrapped them around her wound three times, then slapped the loose end on and cut the rest with her teeth, even though that hurt. She smiled down at the cat and patted her head and pointed out again. Food? She felt bad that she was making Halfheart do everything, but Clara couldn't really feel her leg, so... She rubbed her belly once and pointed in her mouth and out the door again. The kitchen, which was connected to the living room, was really destroyed. The table was broken, the countertops were too unstable to be stood on, and the fridge smelled horrible. There was the pantry, which had some food, like chips and cookies, but, lying near the back door, was the body of a man who was long dead. Could that be one of Clara's family members?

She's hurt... But getting better now that medicine there. Need food? Water? Food. Halfheart stretched, smiled a bit, and bounded away again, narrowly missing a pole sticking into the ground. Oh, careful!
She went into the next room Clara had pointed to, but froze when she saw it. The body. Laying by the opening, motionless- and very much dead. Halfheart shook herself. Food. She looked around for anything that remotely resembled what her people ate when she was a kitten. There! Up in the hollow area, some person food bags were sitting, dusty but intact. Halfheart looked around for a safe way to get up there. Up white thing... Across that, then there! she thought, then did it. She climbed up the white stone thing, which smelled disgusting, then ran across the top of a shelf on the wall. She reached down, snagged the bags on her sharp claws, and pulled them up two at a time. There were five in total, and the good news was that she could carry them all at the same time. Halfheart climbed back down, and returned to Clara.
