My name is Swampskipper! I am the leader of Driftingclan and I am so happy that you're here! Here here- right this way! This is our current camp. Over there are all the dens and other there are some apprentices working on the nursery den, say hello! Howdy! You might be wondering why everything is still being built but that’s because we just arrived here. Here in Driftingclan we don’t stay in one place for too long and we travel all the time.
Don’t be shy, we welcome all cats into our clan, regardless of past or age. After all, the warrior spirit is something that comes from within, not where you come from. My mama, she used to be a part of huge clans, and now…she isn't’t sure where they are, or if they still are a thing. That’s why Driftingclan is so important. I promised her I wouldn’t let the warrior’s spirit die out. Now then, I can ramble all day about this or that, our history, clan life, and even just about all my friends here. Though I don’t want to overwhelm you, so for now let’s get you settled in your den and rest. Tomorrow holds all sorts of new and amazing things, happy you decided to join us on our journey. Plot spoiler for the second arc of WC
During the time of destruction the twolegs rained upon the old forest territories. The heartless creatures took their land, their prey, and most awful of it all, even their own clanmates. One such cat was Spiderlily, a beautiful she-cat of Windclan that was taken while expecting kits of her own.
The twolegs trapped her in a house with only pellets to feed on and a bowl of stale water to drink, Spiderlily tried desperately to escape the twoleg house but they always kept her locked up and never gave her a chance. Eventually the she-cat had her two kittens, Swampkit and Fishkit.
As the pair of litter mates grew up, Spiderlily told them all that she could about clan life and the way life was before she was trapped. Swampkit took to it immediately, often trying to make a clan out of the three of them in hopes of keeping Spiderlily's hopes up, though Fishkit did not. Fishkit thought that the clans were silly because life that the twolegs gave them was easy compared to what clan life seemed to be like.
One day when the kits should've been paws, Fish had an argument with Swamppaw. One over their conflicting views, one over their mother, whose health was declining. The two went to bed angry at each other. That night something strange happened and Swamppaw woke up to the terribly loud sound of a monster growling loudly outside.
Little lights began to glimmer along the window as Swamppaw and her family slept in their nests. They were bright as the light of the monster ran through it. It was the most beautiful thing Swamppaw had ever seen. She realized that it was a spider web, one that seemed to have caught stares.
In the next moment, the light was gone, but behind the lights were the stars. Clear in the night sky, like they have never been before. Then she realized why, the twolegs left the window open, the sun blockers were covering the sky. She could leave. Spiderlily could leave! They could go find home! Windclan right outside!
"Spiderlily, Spiderlily! Wake up, mama, we can go!" Swamppaw called to her mother and the she-cat awoke slowly. Her dull eyes landed on Swamppaw. "Mama, Spiderlily, we can find Windclan."
"No, Swampkit, I cannot." Her mother's mew was soft in the quiet night."My bones cannot hold me anymore, not after so long under the burden of grief. I do not think I could handle learning of my Clan's fate."
Swamppaw was speechless, hadn't this been what her mother always wanted?
"You have been selected by Starclan, they have seen your warrior spirit and you must answer their call. Go now, do not let the clans die."
Swamppaw nodded and said her goodbyes to her mother and she spoke brief words with her brother who seemed upset at her leaving but he didn't stop her.
There have been only a couple moons since then, and now Driftingclan, a name Swampskipper made for the group of wandering cats, are around. They allow all cats to join, and they always make sure that everyone is taken care of. Swampskipper isn’t sure if they’ll ever find the main clans, but at least Driftingclan is still here if they didn’t make it.
Territory:
As the name suggests, Driftingclan is one that well drifts all around and never stays in one place for very long. They see all sorts of different environments and as such their clan has diverse skills and knowledge from all sorts of different kinds of territories. The current territory and dens are always on the first page of the main thread as well as placed here. During traveling the territory sections will highlight what kind of land the clan is traveling through. The clan will switch homes every couple of moons depending on the current roleplays happening. Current territory:
The current territory for Driftingclan is a small forested area beside a twolegplace! It is packed full of oak, birch, and pine trees and full of undergrowth and plant life. There are a few empty abandoned dens that the clan has claimed for the time being. There is also a small creek that travels through the trees and runs through the middle of the camp.

Bigger birds - rarely seen | Forest cover
Herbs:
Currently the same as regular clans! Less water thriving plants.
Seasons:
In the current location, the leafbare seems to just mean that the prey are hiding away and that the trees have lost their lives besides the pine trees. Most of the plants and herbs seem to be okay if they are under others. As its late leafbare the prey is starting to wake up and the snow and frost becoming less abundant.
Camp:
Held in a clearing of wood where there seems to be dens from previous creatures that have been abandoned. There is soft leaf litter spread throughout the space and seems to have enough space for everyone to hang out around or in the dens. A stream runs through the middle of the clearing around an old tree stump before running out of the camp beside the designated nursery.
Nursery:
The nursery has the most deep and hidden premade den they found. It smells of long gone foxes and even some badgers but they have been gone for a long time by the time Driftingclan came along. Some of the warriors and Swampskipper have dragged brambles to reinforce the sides not protected by deep earth, then covered up the brambles with forest moss and lichen. It can hold about three or so queens and a few kittens but it would make due for the populations they had currently
Elder den:
The elders' den is held under a log that had fallen over and ripped up its roots. The space created from the roots leaving was a good start and the apprentices were able to dig out space as they needed for the time being. They also had brambles reinforcement and a pair of warriors even managed to drag up a different smaller log to act like a wall to hide the den. Moss and lichen, and leaf litter were used to secure the den.
Medicine den:
The medicine den is in the shrubbery and bushes near the stream. The bushes are very thick but with some pruning of the inside space for nests and medicine cats and patients nests were made easily and the builders could use the sticks and greenery for other projects like weaving tree branches together for the warriors’ nests.
Warrior and apprentice nests:
Warriors and apprentices in Driftingclan are usually more creative with their sleeping space as it is based on what is left after the prioritized cats of the clan. In this particular instance, tree branches and tree hollows are the nests of choice for the warriors and apprentices. The branches cleared from the medicine den can work to tie different branches together to make a sort of hammock and for the warriors unable to get up or down trees, different tree hollows were found and nests were made inside of them.
Leader’s nest:
The Leader rests in a nest in the very center of the clearing, they are the most vigilant of cats, often in charge of watching in between defender shifts. Being placed in the center of the clearing means that they can see from most angles quickly allowing them to call out immediately in case of danger. Sometimes other warriors join them around the clearing center to help watching.
Surrounding territories:
Endless River:
The stream that carries through the forest and camp connects into a bigger river not too far away from camp. It isn’t very big and doesn’t seem to be too active so it's safe for teaching curious cats and apprentices swimming. There doesn’t seem to be very many fish but not a lot of time has been spent over there yet so maybe there is.
The Twolegplace:
There’s a nearby fence that separates the clan’s current territory with the Twolegplace. Be sure to watch out for any kittypets, wanderers, or rogues! While Driftingclan is welcome to any cat joining, we don’t want any unfriendly cats getting near the camp.
Silent Cave:
There is a divot in the ground that seems unsuspicious at first that Driftingclan thought was just another abandoned den but upon closer inspection it was found that it was a winding tunnel that leads further under the surface than originally thought. No cat is allowed to enter until patrols have been sent to check its safety. If deemed safe there’ll be a clan announcement.
(WIP) Religion: The main religion of Driftingclan is Starclan but not in the way that the clan cats see it. Spiderlily never really spoke too much about Starclan often saying that it was where good cats went after they passed and that they could direct their descendents in time of need so it left a lot to Swampskipper’s interpretation. Based on Spiderlily’s words and Swampkipper’s experiences, Swampskipper interprets Starclan as a temporary place for spirits to rest after their lives.
When visiting living cats or delievering omens to the clan, the spirits come forth in the bodies of other animals. One example of this would be the spider, who made the web that guided Swamppaw to leave the twoleg house. Cats can come as their regular selves in dreams but dreams are rare for Driftingclan and none have happened yet.
Roles in the clan and requirements:
Leader:
The leader is pretty much the same as in a regular clan. They take the suffix ‘star’ and run the clan. Though there hasn’t yet been a leader visited by Starclan to yet receive their lives from their ancestors. Swampskipper hasn’t yet received her name. (This will change early on in the rp and then I’ll update this to match!)
Deputy:
The leader’s right hand cat! Deputies have the same duties as they do in the main clans.
Warrior -> Deputy:
Active in the clan, one post per week minimum
At least 30 posts as a warrior
Helpful in the clan
Chosen by the leader and discussed with Medicine cat
Do not ask for HR positions. You can of course state that you are aiming for it but if do not ask me.
Medicine cat:
Medicine cats are in charge of healing and taking care of their clan’s health. They are very similar to Medicine cats in the main clans! They are regarded to have the strongest connection to Starclan and are thought to be able to tell the difference between a regular animal and a potential starclan visitor on sight. Due to the unique instances of the clan, herb stores tend to not be too stable between travels and medicine cats must be ready to have knowledge dependent on what herbs are within the area.
Medicine cat apprentice -> Medicine cat:
Must meet the requirements of the regular apprentices
Deemed ready by their Medicine cat and leader
Medicine cat apprentice:
Helps the Medicine cat in their duties and learns to be a medicine cat under them.
Kit (or apprentice) -> Medicine apprentice:
Must be chosen by the medicine cat
The medicine cat must then discuss their choice with the leader

Warriors:
Defenders: Defenders tend to patrol more than anything though they also do other jobs. As Driftingclan travels so much they can never have fully established borders so the Defenders focus on patrolling and securing territory around the main camp so that nothing can get in.
Builders: Builders tend to help with camp set up and take down, oftentimes they join into one of the other groups after camp is settled! Builders are often very adept trackers as well as they are required to find different building materials in every new place they travel.
Hunters: Hunters are in charge of taking care of the clan’s food, and if a Medicine cat needs herbs! Hunters are very talented trackers and are very adaptive as the sources of prey change every location. Hunters also tend to warn the clan about any potential predators that the Defenders may have missed.
Apprentice -> Warrior:
At least 20 posts in main rp
At least one lesson in each skill
At least one more lessons in their chosen path
Two help acts in clan (Helping build without being asked, helping queens’ with kits, helping Medicine cats if they need, collecting building materials for builders…etc, ask if you’re unsure if something counts or not.)
Passing their final test - Ask mentor or hr to help you when ready
Apprentices:
All apprentices are required to get basic training in every skill of a warrior (Hunting, building, and defending) while in their first couple moons as an apprentice. When the apprentice hits 9 moons they switch (or if their mentor is already specialized in their choice they remain) to focus on their skill of choice. The assessment requires up to date tests in each skill so make sure not to skip out on the other skills after picking your path.
Kit -> Apprentice:
Existed for at least one month
At least 10 main rp posts

Queens:
Queens have the same job as in the main clans, take care of kits. Though Driftingclan’s way of life can make it difficult for one queen to take care of their litter so they have a ‘It takes a village’ mentality and often help other queens with their litters. Queens can have adopted or born kits and males can be queens if they have kits.
Warrior -> Queen:
Tell medicine cat or leader of the litter
Wait two weeks before kits can be born
Elders:
Same as Main clans, elders tell stories and help keep the tales of the clans and Driftingclan alive. They also take care of the burial of clanmates. Elders are welcome to help with lessons if they feel like they can! If an elder eventually feels like they can no longer travel, the clan will find them a place where they wish to remain where they are safe and happy. No one will make them make this decision.
Warrior -> Elders:
Must be at 80 moons
Or have a disability that they have tried to learn to perform all duties with but cannot do so. (if you can hunt but not fight, you can still be a warrior. If your character cannot do one or two things but can do others they can still be a warrior.)
If you feel that your cat cannot be a warrior with the disability come speak to Swampskipper in her den to discuss.

Medicine cat will be chosen through application as well as deputy because HRs are important to the clan and I want someone who will be active and good for the job. Though not only will your application be considered but also your activity in the clan so once you submit your kitty get to roleplaying to better those odds hehe.
Important note: The clan is only 3 moons old which is why there are very few cats in it. Your cat would most likely be an outsider that has joined previously. So your cat may be unsure of every custom or tradition but we are learning together.
