Red slowly exited her make-shift den underneath a fallen tree and stretched her long limbs, letting out a decently loud yawn as she shook her fur of anything that might've clung to her at night. She opened her jaws and caught the scent of a rabbit, it was close and she knew this because one of the bushes next to her began to rustle and a large brown rabbit hopped out of a small hole in it's branches. She crouched and leaped into the air and onto the rabbit, leaning down and snapping its neck with her sharp teeth. She licked her lips and quickly gulped down the rabbit in a few bites then sat down, licking her paws as a painful tingling emerged from her legs Oh right, I've been running since yesterday, why wouldn't I be aching? She thought sarcastically Oh but it was so worth it just to see those wolves in hunting action! Sure I almost got caught but hey, you can't really live if you don't take risks right? She brought her tail to rest in front of her as she pinned it down to the ground and licked it until her tail became sleek and glossy and just a bit sharp at the end. She slowly stood back up and puffed her large tail out in the air, she had been told by everyone else that it was so flashy she'd never been able to catch any prey well, the rabbit just proved them wrong. Her coat was flashy as well, it was a deeper shade of red than the others and her black paws seemed to stand out as well, but that's just the way she likes it. With another yawn, she realized how thirsty she was and began to slowly make her way over to a river which she could hear running just a few tail lengths away. Once she arrived in front of the stream, she kneeled down and began to lap at the cold water. @.:Raven:.

Kai had been pacing around slowly, unlike other wolves, he wasn't too fond of the idea of living in a pack, he didn't need to know who was the strongest and he sure didn't want to listen to someone and actually have to obey them, he did whatever he wanted to and that was good enough for him, he licked some leftover blood off of his muzzle from his last meal, his fur started pretty dark around his back, slowly taking a hue of brown before it almost became white when it reached his belly, his eyes were a light hue of brown and he stood quite a bit taller than her. As he reached the stream, not too far away from the fox, he looked over at her for a few seconds before he looked away and leaned down before he started to lap at the water, he had no intention to hurt her, she wasn't an intruder and well, he wasn't hungry anymore, so what good would it even be in the end?

Red heard the sound of another creature lapping up the stream water not too far from her so, she instinctively looked up and boy, was she glad she did. just a few tail lengths away from her on the other side of the stream was the most odd colored wolf she had ever seen and honestly, she really liked the pattern on his fur. But, once she remembered that this is a wolf, she visibly shivered and began to look around frantically, raising her ears in hopes of hearing the rest of the packbut all she got in return was the slight scuffling of prey in the underbrush, this didn't mean he was truly alone though and she knew better than to assume that. She stood up and slowly padded over to the opposite side of the wolf, crouched just a bit ready to sprint away if necessary but no wolves sounded an alarm or tried to ambush her as she sat down in front of him and said "Um h-hi there, it's not o-often you see a lone w-wolf." She gave a nervous chuckle and cleared her throat "S-so, what are you doing h-here? O-on my t-territory?" She said that word with a bit of an edge and quickly shrunk back but didn't say anything else.

As she spoke, Kai was still lapping up water, he looked over at the small fox and gazed down at her, he did look pretty threatening at first, with a few scars here and there, after all, he was a wolf, of course he would've fought others, a bunch of other wolves too. He didn't seem to be making a move on her, he was way too calm for that. "Well, some of us do prefer living alone, and I happen to be one of them." He said and watched her every moves, he studied everything about her, even her slight crouch, he could see it. "You don't have to be scared, you know, I already ate, and prey is better when it's fresh anyway." He said, this was a little reassuring coming from him. He gave the air around himself a good whiff. "Are you sure this is your territory, I sure don't seem to be able to find your scent anywhere close." He said, he wasn't the kind to intrude other territories, he was pretty much always alert to scents and all that, and if he ended up here, it was because there was none and he thought he was safe, well, not that a fox would do much to him anyway.

Red listened to him, never taking her gaze away from him as her ears darted from side to side, still scanning the forest but when he said he couldn't find her scent anywhere "Yeah well, maybe you have already eaten, but I've seen wolves who hunt just for fun so how do I know you're not one of them? And what do you mean you can't find my scent anywhere!? Look, I'll find the scent markers right-" She sniffed the air and slowly, it dawned upon her and as she continued to sniff around the surrounding area, she groaned and sighed, sitting down and looking up at the sky as she mumbled "I forgot to refresh them." She looked back at the wolf and said "Well, yes, this is my territory I just fogot to refresh the stupid scent markers...sorry."

"Wasting a fresh meal is a pretty idiotic idea , in my opinion at least, ane I wouldn't want to have bugs all over my meal." He said and listened to her as she said that she had forgotten to refresh her scent markers. "You'll have to do it more often, it's not my first time around here and I've never even known about you until now, I'm actually surprised that you managed to keep this territory for yourself for such a long time without having a pack come and claim it for themselves." He added as he finally lay his chest on the ground to reach her height, this was quite reassuring, that way, she would see a move coming because he'd have to get up and run at her afterwards, leaving her plenty of time to leave. "So, what's your name if you don't mind?" He asked.

Once he layed on his chest, Red let out a long breath as though she'd been holding it in this entire time and she relaxed, her fur slowly pushing itself back down to connect with the rest as she responded "Well, my name's Red, my parents were a bit...obvious." She then darted her gaze around cautiously for a second and sat down, leaning over the stream as she continued "And by the way, I scouted the wolves for at least three moons before claiming this territory because the prey here is small enough to fill up a fox but not nearly plump enough or loaded enough to fill up a wolf so they don't bother this area...well, most of them at least..." Her gaze darkened and she looked to the left a bit, allowing a thick scar to be revealed behind her right ear that seemed to be mostly hidden under her fur. She shook her head and turned back to him, smiling "But anyway, what's your name?"

"You'd be surprised, I've seen a few wolves around here before, I have to look out whenever I come here." He said with a slight laugh, he wasn't as stern as he looked. "My name is Kai." He said and smiled at the fox, he then got back up and looked around to see if anyone was close, gave the air a sniff and finally looked back down at her, it was clear now, he was no threat.
