Berrybounce trotted around, looking for something to do. She picked up a pinecone on her pad and flicked it off, suddenly getting an idea.
All ThunderClan Apprentices, gather 'round! Were going to have some competitions!

Berrybounce's tail twitched as Smokepaw approached. Good Day, Smokepaw! Here for the competitions? she asked calmly.

"Uh, sure I guess." She had been been bored so she just decided to come as the apprentices got called, and she hadn't payed attention to the competition part. But, hey, how bad could it be?

Why don't we give you a head start on practice? Berrybounce meowed. Smokepaw had always been Berrybounce's favorite apprentice, so why not?

Nightpaw ran up excitedly, she hadn't been able to do much training yet but this sounded so exciting, how could she pass it by? "I want to participate! Can I?!" She mewed excitedly

Berrybounce turned her head, eyes narrowing. Now, Nightpaw...She hadn't been the warrior's favorite apprentice. Sure. she growled, pacing. Lets practice before the other apprentices get here?

Nightpaw shrunk back a bit as she looked at Berrybounce, hearing the growl in the warrior's voice and feeling a sharp sting of hurt. "S-sure... W-what are we practicing?" She couldn't stop her voice from shaking no matter how hard she tried to stiffen herself.

Berrybounce turned to Nightpaw, thrusting her muzzle into the apprentice's face. Battle skills, she snarled, shaking her head in disappointment. Berrybounce turned away and started pacing again.

Nightpaw gasped a bit, tucking her tail between her legs. She kept herself standing tall, refusing to let a warrior who wasn't her mentor make her feel bad. She would serve her clan better than any warrior before her, even Berrybounce. "Sounds good Berrybounce."
