RiverClan Leader's Den

Oh, COME ON! He was so sneaky! Goosekit doubted anyone could be as sneaky as him! Well, whatever. At least Birdsomethingsomethingstar was here. The small mottled gray tom puffed his chest and marched over, attempting to seem bigger than he was. But this was important: the date of the Clan rested on his tiny shoulders!

"Hey! I got some complaints!" He announced loudly, marching over to the leaders' best and sitting down in it like he owned the place, which he soon would! Ooooohhh... Comfy .. wait, that wasn't what he was here for! Goosekit puffed his cheeks in a pout, glaring at the leader. "Very important complaints!"

Well, he was about to ask a more lighthearted question, but then he clearly saw the kit, good, Kestrelstar and her were at least on the same page. ' 'Well, your medicine cat upset the kit to the point where they thought he didn't have a place in the clan, so he left camp and, well, I guess you can tell what happened.' ' There was anger and sadness in her voice, of course she was livid at Snakeheart, but, she was upset for Talonkit. Although, the next thing she said was. . .shockingly genuine.

' 'I'm, sorry I wasn't able to save him in time. . .' '

"I'm sorry for asking," he meowed. He knew how his demotion worked, he just needed some time alone, and finding it in the camp was proving difficult. He looked at the tom. He was never close with Kestrelstar, even as kits, they kept their distance. But maybe he could be now. They had both lost people recently, and where not in good shape. Maybe he could ease his pain, although he didn't know how, he was going to try. "Look, I know I don't deserve to even be here, but I just want you to know someone else is going through what your going through." His face was a mixture of seriousness and calmness. Horse moved his paw and touch Kestrelstar on the shoulder, he didn't know how he would react.

"Come, kitlings." She said. "Be on you're best behavior." She explained. She poked her head in.

"Kestrelstar?

My kits are 5 moons old. I think they'd meet you." She explained

Mistypaw briefly gazed at the floor as she listened to Kestrelstar's words. Only now did she realize she didn't know what she wanted to ask. What was the most important? Well, maybe she should just ask what had really happened to Stormtalon.

"Well... I guess I haven't heard the... full story about what happened to him." She could not bring herself to say her mentor's name out loud. It would be torture for her.

"All that has come to me is his dissapearance. After knowing, I did not really have the... endurance to find out more." Mistypaw spoke hesitantly, not wanting to hurt the leader too much by talking about Stormtalon.

Salmonkit sat behind his mother with his tail neatly over his paws, trying to look his best. He groomed himself a bit, quivering with excitement though he was a bit nervous because somehow he knew that Kestrelstar was the cat that was mad at him. He wanted to look his absolute best and be the most respectful and quiet so his leader would not be mad at him anymore.

"Hey, um... Kestrelstar, do you happen know maybe when Horsepaw is going to be back to a warrior?" Pebblepaw said quietly as she peeked into the den of the Riverclan leader. She had been wondering for a long time and she was hoping to get her training back on track. She had been struggling the whole time to find training sessions and she only ended up finding one. Pebblepaw hoped he would be back in the warrior den soon enough.

Lizardfrost didn't really react to the new shield much, as she felt it wasn't her place to make judgements, especially considering she did not know the cat. She was, however, eager to do something for once and made her way to the leader's den, sitting on the ground patiently and waiting.

Winter was ugh just ugh and far too long. Snakeheart wasnt a cat for cold long fur too silky to provide much protection from the chill and lack of any real bulk on his bones meaning he really wasnt suited for the cold weather like his clanmates might be. And he was going kind of stir crazy with the cabin fever. That too. Medicine cats really didnt get out much but for herb patrols and with all the plants being dead and dead for awhile now it meant the tom was pretty much camp confined until the snow melted. So Snakeheart was cold twitchy and feeling like the clan wasnt doing enough.


What was that last one you might say? Well the medicine cat was happy to elaborate. The clan simply wasnt doing enough. Shadowclan had been quiet so far but Snakeheart had never known Dawnstar to let things lay and yet the clan was bumbling around like she wasnt a real threat and the matter was closed instead of preparing for another attack. Add to that that the forest just felt.... off of late something changing in the air that set the toms fur on edge meant that the medicine cat wholy believed the clan should be preparing for war, something that wasnt happening.


Not to worry though, Snakeheart had a plan and one that wouldnt send the clan into a panicked fit over the idea that the forest might erupt into battle. So finding a quiet moment the tom barged into Kestrelstars den like he owned the place and flopped his entire weight against the other shorter tom declaring "We need to brush up on our battle skills and relationship with windclan. Im going to the windclan border to organize a meet up and youre going to prepare the clan for a mock spar with them after I come back. Im not asking by the way Im ordering birdbrain you know we need to be more prepared just in case."

As the young kit marched over to speak, Kestrelstar had to fight down a smirk. He was rather hilarious he had to adnit. "Complaints? Alright, lets hear 'em." Taking a seat the gray tabby wrapped his tail arounds his paws. At least for now he would allow the young kit to take over his nest.

Medicine cat? Snakeheart? Confusion danced in his ytellow gaze as the leader looked at the apprentice. He knew the tom to have a rather thorny exterior but this... Something tugged at his heart that this had been different. He stared down at Talonkit with a mixture of shovk and grief. "...It's not your fault," Kestrelstar said after a bit. With a sigh he stood. "Thank you for finding him. I... will go bury him in the thicket, and speak to Snakeheart." He swakllowed and bent his neck to scoop the kit up, preparing to exit the den.

His gaze narrowed further as Kestrelstar watched the tom. Someone else is going through what he was going through? If this mouse-brain was referring to losing Silverspot being anywhere near as difficult as the death of his friend - his brother - the leader was going to claw his ears off. As the paw came towards him he let out a warning snarl, backing up. "If thats everything, you can leave," he snapped, giving a subtle lash of his tail.

Turning from where he was grooming himself, Kestrelstar noticed Nightleap herding in her kits. Today wasn't a particularly bad day so the leader nodded. "Come in," he gestured as he rose to his paws, stepping outside his nest to meet them.

Kestrelstar sighed at the question he was asked. Sparrowskip had yet to come report how Horsepaw was progressing so the leader had no idea when he was going to be receiving his warrior name back. "I'm not sure, Pebblepaw. I know Goosefury was suppose to take over your training, but he's gone as well." Thinking for a moment, he looked past her out towards the clearing. "Why don't you locate one of the shields? They should be able to assist with your training until I can locate a new mentor for you."
